Quote 1 :"We have seen significant change in teaching over the past few decades, and much of that change has not been for the better."
I selected this Quote because some teachers really just don't care they are there to get through the day and I feel like as a teacher you should be impacting your students lives and making a change no matter what especially if this is something you love.

Quote 2:" Teaching is an easy College major."
I also selected this Quote because this is not true. With teaching you have to be super knowledgeable because you are passing on your knowledge and potential to teach others.Your vocabulary and comprehension has to be strong with that being said your always going to have books to read and papers due.Teaching is an extremely important job you have internships, lesson plans, deadlines and dates. Its not easy but it is managabe.

Quote 3:"You represent the next generation of teachers who will, no doubt, weather difficult times and sometimes adverse circumstances to touch the lives of students and to shape a better America."
I selected this Quote because it really does stand out to me I am big one getting to know my students personality and being the best teacher I can be.I want to be able to have an impact on my students and I want them to one day pass on what they been taught to the next person.

Overall this chapter was great it changed my thoughts because not all teachers are the same some are caring and want to see you do good and then you have some that are in it for the day to go by .e can't be depended for the next generation we have to work as hard as them..

Chapter 2: Different Ways Of Learning

Quote 1: "Dont assume that all students learn the way you do, and take care not to undervalue students just because their learning styles differ from yours."
I selected this Quote most importantly because It's the teachers job to be able to incorporate all learning styles and meet the students needs Academically. As teachers integrating different learning styles into the classroom its great because every individual needs all three such as visual, visual, auditory and kinesthetic.

Quote 2:" A creative mind discovers new ways of looking at the world, and offers new insights and a fresh way of thinking."
This quote stood out to me because creativity is a way of living life that embraces originality.Being creative makes you the unique you. It helps you see things differently and better deal with uncertainly.

Quote 3:"Teaching gifted learners comes with its own set of challenges."
I like this quote alot because yes sometimes in life there is going to be a challenge or challenges but you have to be willing to work and overcome that.Encourage gifted students to do well develop discipline, productivity, creativity and leadership skills. Be flexible and design a curriculum that address the cognitive, physical, emotional and social needs of gifted students.

This chapter showed me the rich human diversity that graces the classrooms and enables all teachers alike to learn from one another. Not all students learn at the same pace so teachers have to be mindful of that and be patient and willing to help them succeed.

Quote 1: "If teachers are to connect and communicate with the growing student diversity (and poverty) in their classroom, they will need to learn more about students whose backgrounds are different from their own, and learn more about themselves in the process."
This quote is really important and it really stood out to me because as a teacher its there responsibility to recognize and structure their lessons to reflect student. differences .One reason for seeking out and acknowleding cultural differences among students is the idea that learning involves transfer of information from prior knowledge and experiences.

Quote 2:"Teachers are the gatekeepers to that learning"
I selected this quote because teachers have the ability to teach us what we need to know for us to be successful in the future.

Quote 3:"By recognizing and adopting cultural traditions, the school was able to dramatically improve student's reading scores."
I selected this quote means because it means a lot to me every student is entilted to an education no matter their Ethnicty and its amazing how reading scores were improved due to the acknowledgement given.

This chapter changed my thoughts because you have to be so fair and equal to all Ethnicity no matter what because that can change how a person is gaining their knowledge. You really have to be mindful and open to be diverse and help all.

Quote 1:"Teachers must work every day to create a humane and caring classroom."
I selected this quote because students should feel safe, and they should want to come learn. Its very important for the classroom to a positive and productive environment.

Quote 2:"Students living in low-income neighborhoods usually have fewer adults with professional careers who can serve as role models."
This quote is important because thats when teachers come into play as being a role model, our students look up to us and they depend on us.They encourage their children to strive for greatness and live to their fullest potential.

Quote 3:" When more time is allocated to the subject matter learning, student achievement increases."
I selected this quote because when pressure is applied you will achieve what you have to achieve. Its okay to take time out your day to do some extra practice at home you will be stronger in what you practice.

This chapter changed my thoughts because you have to make an environment where students feel comfortable to come to you about anything. Also making sure I am a role model, never judging my students, and maintaining a positive influence on my students.

Quote 1: "Native American students have the highest dropout rate of all students and are most likely to struggle with alcohol and drug addiction."
I selected this quote because nobody ever really knows this and this is an issue teachers should be aware of this and find a way to fix this so every ethnicity is learning at the same level and the rates go down.

Quote 2:"Young children need a carefully prepared environment in order to learn."
I selected this quote because each child is entitled to learn ,and in a prepared
environment the child can grow and be able to show their unique potential. The teachers goal is to prepare and organize the learning environment to meet the needs and interests of the children as well as promote independence. Also as teachers and being apart of the community they have to get to know where the kids are coming from in order to teach them better, inspire them and be a prime role model to their academic success.

Quote 3: "Even in schools that were not entirely segregated, black children were routinely placed In special classes or separate academic tracks, counseled into low-status careers, and barred from extracurricular activities."
This quote is important to me because your ethnicity shouldn't be a reason why your being treated different. Each student should be able to learn and be engaged with one another no matter their ethnicity.

This chapter changed my thoughts because its really sad how your Ethnicity can change how people treat you not only how they treat you but always judged on your race your either classified as low-class/poverty.

Quote 1: "Not only did Edgewood Elementary School lack adequate books and air conditioning, the top two floors were condemned, and barely half the teachers were certified."
I selected this quote because no teacher should be teaching if they do not have a degree or certification especially teaching younger kids they need to know the basics and be able to receive a effective education by a knowledgeable person.

Quote 2:" A number of charter schools have extended their school day and their school year as one tangible way to improve student performance."
Thie quote is important me because every student has the right to have a education and im glad the school district came to a conclusion that maybe extending longer school days will improve grades, after school extra help
percentages and also there behavior.

Quote 3: "Trust is seen everyday as teachers work in terms, continually improving their curriculum and each others teaching."
This is important because teachers are to set the tone and make the best out of teaching each and everyday.

This chapter changed my thoughts because It is surprising that teachers aren't certified but they are teaching other students. Also having longer school days changed my thoughts because the school cares about the students success and they actually want to help these children in any way they can.

Quote 1: " Some students and parents have sued school districts for failing to provide an adequate education."
This quote is extremely important because every student is entitled to get an education and school districts need to close if they can't meet the students needs or get it together.

Quote 2: "Create an environment where both the teachers and students respect and encourage diverse points of view and promote sharing diverse opinions."
This quote is important and valuable because in life in order to maintain positive relationships you are going to need to be respectful and open minded.Students should feel comfortable and want to share their ideas with their peers.

Quote 3: "Sexual harassment complaints against teachers have been increasing."
I selected this quote because this is very inappropriate students should feel comfortable with their teachers without any harm being done to them.If the teachers are caught harassing students they should lose their job.

This chapter changed my thoughts or actions because its sad that parents are suing school districts I never thought of such a thing and also you have to keep an eye out on the teachers because eve though they are grown some of them are very inappropriate and I feel that is a problem these students go to school to learn not to be harassed.

Quote 1: " There are real doubts that core standards pave a path to a better education."
I selected this quote because yes common core is challenging and its a pave path to a better education but in my opinion it should be optional because these test are extremely hard and its really not fair. In some states where students can't graduate high school because they didn't pass.It also put a lot of pressure on teachers because they have to teach everything.Teachers feel that test are driving them to shortchange schoolchildren out of a love for learning.
Quote 2: " The principal asked all teachers (regardless of the subject area) to spend 15 minutes a day with the students practicing how to answer test questions."
This quote is important and I selected it because some students aren't good test takers so for the teacher to take time out the day to show students how to answer questions along with giving them test talking tips is really important. Some test can be very overwhelming and sometimes all you need to do is use testing taking strategies and break the context down to your ability.
Quote 3: "Technology will continue to wonder to bring students instant information, and educators will continue to wonder about its ultimate impact on learning."
I selected this quote because technology is wrapped around students fingers and that is no good they need to be opening up textbooks and learning hands on things.
This chapter didn't really change my thoughts or actions because I knew this however the state really needs to get rid of common core.
