It is pretty poor as many countries turned to communism during this period. The loss of the Vietnamese war and the Bay of Pigs invasion failure showed that the US we’re not able to slow down communism effectively.

I think that it was effective because in the past people used to be communists like Vietnam and Soviet union and it was a huge fear lots of Americans had but now its not feared and people are less likely to associate with that.
