This interview was conducted in the quiet of a participant's home. As a former doctoral candidate this participant prepared a quiet space in her living room on 12/1/2017 around 7:30pm. Even though she was at home, I was mindful this was her only day off. As a result, I came prepared to ensure I did not waste anytime. Tape recorder, questions, Observation list and note book were all in hand.
As my first and only face to face interview, I wanted to incorporate all of the techniques including: eye contact, engaging the individual, expressing empathy where applicable, allowing a few seconds to think through the process as well as monitoring for any non-verbal cues.
