Due to the holiday season as well as everyone's hectic schedule, I had the opportunity to conduct only one face to face interview.  The focus group and most of the interviews were conducted via zoom. Also the first interview was conducted by phone in participants office.

      •  required an invite letter first
      • others agreed prior to receiving the letter. Subsequently, invite was sent as a formality.
     B-Challenges in confirming:
    1. date, time and location
    2. logistical challenges: zoom's unstable connection, quiet background from interviewee
    3. Unable to see non-verbal communication; listening skills were put to the test 
    Interviewer was under the weather. Know not to schedule interviews if sick.

As a former doctoral candidate this participant prepared a quiet space in her living room on 12/1/2017 around 7:30pm.  Even though she was at home, I was mindful this was her only day off. As a result, I came prepared to ensure I did not waste anytime.  Tape recorder, questions, Observation list and note book were all in hand.

    • losing track of my role as an interviewer-the first interview I felt it was a conversation. This sentiment was felt immediately upon completing the interview. 
    • do not ask many questions together-too wordy
    • silence is ok
    • obtain more face to face interviews
    • ensure participant has the protected time to conduct the interview (i.e do not schedule from participants office)
