         <description><![CDATA[<p>The purpose of this act was to support states and localities in protecting the rights of and meeting the individual needs of children and youth with disabilities and their families. This act also required for public schools to evaluate students with disabilities and created an education plan with having the parents input. This act will later be named as IDEA. This act also required schools to create IEP'S and establish safeguards. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The NCLB law was an update of ESEA. This is the era where standardized testing began. It held the schools accountable for the academic proficiency of all students. This progress had a deadline, it was stated that schools needed to have students at a proficient level at the school year of 2013-14. The schools growth was kept on track with goals and yearly progress goals. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The IDEA of 1990 focused on the person first and not their disability. The IDEA added Autism and Traumatic brain injury into categories of disability. It offered students to be involved in the planning process of their learning and FAPE that is unique to the child's needs. IDEA did get reauthorized in 2004 and many adjustments were made. For example, a new requirement for measurable postsecondary goals was added as well as use of RTI model in classrooms. </p>]]></description>
