         <description><![CDATA[<div>Lots of landforms helped the cities of Mesopotamia thrive. For example, the Mediterranean Sea supported Mesopotamia by supplying its cities with fish and other ocean-related items. Another geographical landform that helped Mesopotamia were the Taurus and Zagros mountains. These helped because they worked as great sources of defense.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Government and laws are important because they keep society from plunging into chaos. Without laws about stealing, people would be constantly robbing each other. What Hammurabi's laws show us is that some Mesopotamian laws are fair, but some are also very cruel. This was important back then because it inflicted people with a loyal kind of fear, unlike nowadays, where Hammurabi's law shows us how much government laws have gone from cruel to fair.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that the Code of Law solves the problems it is meant to resolve, but mostly in a cruel way. For example, if a child slaps one of his parents, his HAND shall be cut off. See what I mean? I think this merely made Mesopotamia survive, and not thrive, because they were dishing out severe consequences for things that are not so severe.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There were 3 main class divisions in Mesopotamia. There was the lower class, with slaves cruelly forced to work, the middle class, filled with assorted commoners, merchants, artisans, and scribes. Then there was the upper class, with assorted religious priests and the king. Were you in the lower class division, you would be a slave, where you would need skill and no education. You won't get any more education as a slave, either. Or in the middle class, you could be a scribe, requiring lots of writing skill and lots of education. At the top, you could be a priest, requiring not a lot of skill and some religious education. There were class divisions in Mesopotamia so there was order, and everybody could not just make new rules or freely worship gods. Without class divisions, a slave might have about as much power as a king!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Some benefits of being in the lower class (slaves) is you don't have to worry about education, and... that's about it. The drawbacks of being a slave is, well, there are so many. Being owned by someone else, being forced to work with not a lot of food or water, etc. The benefits of being in the middle class is you get some education and some choice of what you want to do with your life, and a few drawbacks are still being regarded by higher class, having to work, and having to mostly fend for yourself. The benefits of the upper class is that you get full control over lower and middle class, and you don't have to do much work or have much education. One drawback is that sometimes it's hard to be in control of so many people and have to make that many decisions, but still, you would want to be upper class.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The religion of Sumerian is very much rotated around gods. They made ziggurats and hired priests to worship them. One belief they had is that gods behaved like people. They ate, slept, walked, etc. Another belief they had is that gods were immortal and could not age or die. Another belief of the Sumerians is that if you worship the gods and behave good, they will reward you with good luck. And if you're bad? You will be punished by the gods.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The main reason the Mesopotamians built ziggurats is so the temple is closer to heaven, thus being closer to the gods. Ziggurats were built with a mud brick and tamped earth procedure. They used this procedure because the materials were easy to get.</div>]]></description>

People mostly made paintings so people in the future could look back and see the past. People made statues usually with some religious symbol, like one may make a statue with the head of a griffon. People made statues mostly for religious properties, thinking they would please the gods. People built artistic buildings with lots of different shapes and holes. People made these buildings probably also to please the gods, like ziggurats.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It is important to study art from ancient civilizations because it is like a little fragment of history. You can see what life in civilizations were like, what they valued, what they believed in, so on. For example, if you find a picture of a man fishing, you would know people probably fished back then. If you find a statue of a god, you can find out what their religion is. If we make art now, in 2018, people later on in life will look back and be like, "Oh! People back then played video games."</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>They used cuneiform writing. This form of writing was used by scribes. The form of writing was done by engraving letters into stone tablets. The purpose of this writing was to mostly keep track of things that happened. For example, a farmer might hire a scribe to write down how much crops he harvested.</div>]]></description>

This seems like it would be hard to write and read. That could also mean it could be a good way of communication between higher classes with better education. Writing it on stone tablets is effective because it's hard to lose a big rock and it will not wash away or anything like that.</div>]]></description>
