         <description><![CDATA[<div>LO: to explain how experiences shape our memory.<br><br><em>Schemas:</em><br>An active organisation of past reactions and experiences.<br> Or its a mental picture you form from experience  <br><br>We use schemas to build a picture of the world and to make sense of new information.<br><br><strong>Can experience alter our memories?<br></strong>Yes - sometimes we can misremember things if we have made them fit with our previous experiences.<br><br></div><ul><li>If we see something unusual like a three wheeled car we might modify our schema for cars to account for this...</li><li>Or.. we may instead recall seeing a car with four wheels because that fits with our existing schema.</li></ul><div><strong>Schemas and expectations: <br>W</strong><strong><em>hat happens when you go into an exam hall? </em></strong><em>You remember all the steps needed to take your exam</em></div><div><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

(its accidental)</li><li>This is us trying to make sense of something that has happened - but this is when the memory is complete.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Stage One:<br>- Light Drowsy sleep<br>- Drift in and out, can be stirred easily<br>- Eyes move slowly, muscle activity slows<br>- Alpha brain waves - slow and synchronised <br><br>Stage Two:<br>- Lose Conscious awareness of the world<br>- Slow Theta brain waves<br>- Eye movement stop<br>- Outbursts of rapid brain waves<br><br>Stage Three<br>- Deep Sleep<br>- Extremely slow Delta Waves alternate with shorter, faster Theta waves.<br><br>Stage Four:<br>- Deep sleep<br>- Only Delta waves<br><br>Stages 3 &amp; 4<br>- Difficult to wake someone<br>- no more eye movement<br>- more growth hormones <br>- high levels of physical repair<br><br>Stage 5 (REM)<br>- Fast Irregular breathing<br>- limb muscles temporarily paralysed<br>- fast brain <br><br></div>]]></description>
