Karla var ældst i en børneflok på 5 børn. Hun røg cerutter og drak portvin. Hun arrangerede selv sin 100 år's fødselsdag. Hun var en kærlig og loyal mor. Hun var parat til at dø, havde også planlagt sin bisættelse og hvad de skulle spise og drikke bagefter. Karla døde i 2020.
