         <title>EXAMPLE OF BOOK REPORT</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Lesson Plan for “Some Kind of Courage” by Dan Gemeinhart</div><div><br></div><div>I would introduce this book by asking students to think about a time they had to show courage. What were you faced with? Why was it so scary? What was the outcome?, etc. After sharing and discussing I would show the book trailer for the novel to introduce it. </div><div><br></div><div>I would most likely read this is a read aloud to my fifth graders. We will stop throughout  and the students will discuss the themes (death, grief, loss, loyalty, pets, love, determination, bravery, and perseverance being some of them) as well as the character of Joseph. Students could work on identifying traits for Joseph providing words or actions from the text that illustrate those traits. Throughout the book Joseph talks about the lessons his parents taught him and he recalls them with inner dialogue during times where he is faced with  making a tough choice. These would be good times to stop and talk about what his choices are and how they could affect the story. Why does he make the choices he does? What is driving him? Students could connect them to the things their own parents have taught them. Why are these “life lessons” important? </div><div><br></div><div>Another thing that would be interesting is to have students research the time period of the book (1890’s) and learn more about homesteading and what life was like for settlers. What was influencing their opinions and feelings at the time? Why did so many settlers die of disease? Was Joseph’s situation (being an orphan of sorts) a common experience?          <title>Gu Bu&#39;s  Lesson plan for&quot;A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Slippery Slope&quot; by Lemony Snicket</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>           I would introduce the book by reading the back, and then asking them to share a time when they felt that something couldn't get worse, then got worse, or about a time where they helped someone in a desperate situation. Then I would show the trailer for the show. <br><br>           I would then have them read silently a couple chapters a day with a partner. Between each chapter, I would have them stop and discuss about what each sibling did to show kindness and teamwork, and what unfortunate situation they were currently in. I would also have them discuss some reading strategys they used, and what questions and predictions they have. <br><br>          Once they finish the book, I would like them to share something they liked or disliked about the book. I would also like them do see if their predictions were correct, and if their questions got answered. Then, I would assign a book report on it. The book report would include 4 paragraphs. Paragraph one would be title, author, and perspective, and why. The second paragraph would include two characters compare and contrast, with at least 3 reasons,  and the setting the book was mostly in. The third paragraph would consist of a short  summary of the book, and in the fourth paragraph, I would make them write what they thought the theme of the story is. <br><br>              I would also have them research how there time period was similar to our time period, and how it is different. Would they rather live in that time period or now's?  How is their time period better than our's? How is it worse? What do you think could be brought from our time into their's to make it better?<br><br>            My opinion of the book: I thought it was fantastic! I just couldn't put it down. It is full of excitement and adventure, along with betrayals rescues.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I would introduce this book by showing the book review then ask my students if they had every went outside their comfort zone. If this was easy for them or hard. I would then ask them to read this with partners or read silently. To intrigue them I would read the first chapter to them. After each chapter we would discuss what they predicted what would happen next. <br>We would discuss what they thought of Kasey's friends they thought of her friends( mean and nice). I would ask them to think of a time they needed a friend or when a friend had helped them. I would ask them to silently think to themselves&nbsp; &nbsp; a time a friend was not so helpful.&nbsp; Throughout the book Kasey talks about how she wants to be popular again, and how she feels not pretty with braces and glasses. I would ask my students to right a prompt about what makes a person beautiful. After we would talk about how what is in the inside that counts not on the outside.<br>After everyone finished the book we would talk about why Kasey still kept her mean friends after she met nicer ones. They would then talk about why Kasey quit her news channel job at the end, was she trying to empress or was she not loving who she was on the inside. To wrap this project up they would write and color non fiction stories about a time they helped a friend or a friend helped them.<br>My opinion on the book<br>I thought the book was 10/10 I loved how Kasey stood up for herself when some boys where bullying her. I thought this book taught me how to except how everyone looks and even though we don't love braces and glasses we can still love who we are. I loved how Kasey started to hang out with an old friend, but I didn't love about Kasey she totally ditched her old friend when she became popular again.          <description><![CDATA[<div>By Carly Fraizer<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;I would introduce this book by giving them the review video for the book and then asking them if they had ever been one way and then all of the sudden changed. And then if it was a big change or a small one. I would read the summary and then have them read the first chapter and then discuss what they think of the book so far with a shoulder partner. We would do that until we reach chapter four, so that we could have them infer what might happen next.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;Once they finish that they would share what they thought about Chase now with the class. After the class is all done with that we would read to chapter six, and talk about Chase playing football again (either he will or won't play). We will read chapter six and decide character traits for Chase, Shoshanna Weber, and Brendan. Once we're finished with that I will assign a worksheet that you have to write three sentences about the characters. After that I will ask if anyone has ever made someone mad and forgotten what they did to make the person angry. Which is kind of like how Chase made Shoshanna angry because he made her twin brother have to leave town, but of course Chase didn't remember that because he fell off of his roof and got amnesia.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;After everyone eventually finished the book (which would take a while ) we would figure out whether or not the new Chase or the old Chase is better. They hopefully will say the new Chase is better, because he used to me a horrible person. I would also ask my class if it was right to give back Mr. Solway's medal, and if they have ever taken something from someone else (did they give it back?). We'd probably talk about our favorite characters and explain why they are our favorites.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;My opinion of the book is 10/10 because it was so action packed with excitement. I loved how when Chase hit his head he became a much better human. I also liked how he made amends with the people he hurt physically and verbally, even though there were many bumps along the journey. The book was very funny. Then I would let the read to chapter 5. When everyone is done reading it I will give them a piece of paper and tell them to write 4 or more sentences about the book so far. Then they will read to chapter ten and I will give them a piece of paper that will have questions on them about the book. Then when everyone is done reading the book and filling out the questions they will turn&nbsp; the paper in to me and I will grade them. Then they will read to chapter 15 and I will give them a piece of paper like I did last time talking about the chapters that they read. Then they would read to the end of the book and fill out another sheet that has questions on it. After they are done with that then they will do a book report on the book.<br>&nbsp;I would rate this book 10/10 because of the mystery It has and Because the whole story was good.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>At first I would read the back and ask them If they had a bad experience with themselves or someone or something. I would show them the book trailer for the book . Then I would each have my 3rd graders read 1-2 chapters a day individually or with a partner and discuss what they have learned with each other and record information and reading strategies they used. After they finished the book I would have them write a book report on it with&nbsp; 2-3 paragraphs on what they liked disliked about the book and a summary on the book and some words that gave them trouble. In the book report I would also have them write down some situations where they were in trouble, where they have rescued something&nbsp; &nbsp; or someone or where someone has done something nice to them. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <br>&nbsp;I would rate this book a 7 star! Couldn't put it down! Full of action and adventure and would totally recommend&nbsp; this book if you haven't and have read it.          <title>Some Kind of Courage By Alexis Hedrick</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There's this boy named Joseph Johnson and he lost almost everyone he loved. He lost his grandpa in accident. He also lost his mom and sister do to a sickness. Right now in the book his pony got taken away by a man. Joseph has been searching for his pony, but the he doesn't want to take the chance fighting to get his pony. While searching for his pony, he comes across a wild grizzly bear. He doesn't know what to do he's so scared. he see's the bear charge at him. It was on page 49 that Joseph said " I don't want to hurt the mama grizzly and make the cub orphan, he wanted to shoot her. His legs were all bloody. More to the end of the book, Sarah got shot in her shoulder by her neck. They walked many miles to find a animal doctor. The doctor said that she couldn't do a surgery because, the horse would move around to much and not be still. Joseph said that she would be still, the doctor didn't believe him, but she did the surgery anyways. When the surgery was done the doctor was shock that the horse stayed still. After the surgery there was a cost of 150 dollars. When they left Sarah wasn't eating or drinking any of her water or food. When the night passed, he realized that over the night Sarah must of eaten the her food because all of it was gone. Joseph rushed and told them, he was so happy that she ate her food.&nbsp;<br><br>A lesson plan I would do is I would have the students read chapters 1-3 and make a booklet so they could answer some questions to remember the book. The booklet would have all directions in it so the students would know what to do. Once they have finished the book and the booklet. I would have them make a poster about the book, and type a essay on it and turn it in. I would give the student two or three weeks to finish the essay and poster. For reading the book I would give them about a month or two to finish it.&nbsp;<br><br>I rate the book Some kind of Courage, a 3 out of 5. The book was really good once you got to the middle and the end. The start of the book was a little boring and was hard to keep reading but the middle was really good.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The lesson I would plan would go like this... First I would make a study packet for the kids to fill out while I reading the book to them. Once we are finished reading the book I would have a quizlet live for the class to play and one quizlet so they can study off of at home or at a time between classes. Since the book is about one of the Tapper twins making a scavenger hunt all around New York City with her friends for charity. We would do a scavenger hunt around the school in four or more teams depending on how many kids are in the class. It would have a certain time limit and if you don't get back in time you are disqualified like in the book and there is no prizes and the scavenger hunt will not effect your grade if you do not get a lot of item that are on the list that you would have on you. Then after all of that we would do one more chance just to study then we would take a test on the book and the test we be graded just not the scavenger hunt we did.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I would start the lesson by reading the class the back of the book and show them the book trailer. Then after showing the trailer, I would give them a packet like the one for Seedfolks. I would assign the class reading partners and have them read a chapter and answer the study guide questions in the packet. Then the second, third, fourth chapters etc. Once they finished reading the book (which doesn't take long), they would be assigned an RDF on the chicken family or a compare and contrast on J.J. and Sugar's personalities for their final project. I would rate this book a 2 out of 5, just because it was very short and not a lot happened.          <description><![CDATA[<div>By Livi Olson<br>I would start out by asking the students if they have anything they are really committed to, (sports, plays, ect.) Then, I would have them make a make a word web on what the word committed means to them. They would each be given a packet, like the Seedfolks one, and would be able to choose a partner or group. They would read a chapter with their group, then one as a class. After we are about a quarter way through, the students will write a list with at least 10 words describing Connor. Once they are about half way through the book, I would ask them if they can relate with Connor or any of the other characters, and why? Then I would have them write a  RDF paragraph on how they can relate to them. Then, for the next two chapters I would have them read with a partner then have them come to me with a list with 5-7 bullets on why they think I asked them about commitment at the beginning of the project. Then, they will read to the end and I will have a vote to see if the students liked the book. <br><br>Summary<br>The book is about a boy named Connor who's very committed to his favorite sport, hockey. He loves his dog Sinbad so much, when Sinbad gets very sick, he is willing to give up hockey camp for a while. Sinbad heals just in time for try-outs. When Connor makes the team of his dreams, the AAA, just a few games in, he gets injured by an illegal check. He has a concussion that will keep him off the ice for a few weeks. When he recovers, he has to gain a lot of his skill back so he can keep his spot on the team of his dreams. By the end of the book, Connor is doing amazing, his new coach loves him, and he and Sinbad can go back to having lots of fun!<br><br>Links</div>]]></description>

Then in class, we'd have discussions based off of what happened in the chapter before. If I were to rate this book out of ten I would rate it a 7. I really like this book and would  definitely recommend it to a fellow sixth grader.</div>]]></description>

Finally Frodo the one that carries the ring. Now you know the characters the now&nbsp; story.</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The story goes like this. Bilbo Frodo's uncle gives him the ring Gandalf seas the ring and leves to study it years pass and Gandalf figure out that the ring is sauron's ring and&nbsp; Gandalf&nbsp; knows that frodo is in danger and he goes for help . your confused are you well thousands of years ago sauron the dark lord had the ring giving him incredible power but an aliens of man and eve's fot the army of mordor in the end the king of gonndor died and his son isildur cut the ring from sauron's hand using the brocen sord cald narsel and he destroyed soulron and took the ring to throw it in to the fires of mount doom with Erond then the true power of the ring is shounen Isildur was corrupted by the ring and cepted it and died days later and the ring fell out of all knowledge for two thousand years then the crcher gollum took it to only be stolen by bilbo. Now continue the story.&nbsp; Gandalf goes to saruman the wise only to find out that he works for soulron then gets inprsend at top of the tower of orthank which is half a mile meanwhile Frodo comes home to a destroyed room and a note from gandalf&nbsp; saying to meat at a pub him the twins and sam go to the pub after being chased by the black riders but Gandalf was not there. Accidentally Frodo put on the ring turning him invisibull and alerting the black riders someone in the corner brote the hobbits in to his room. Then he explained to them the riders are Nazgul which means ringwraiths and his name is Aragorn he has the shards of narsil. They git attacked and Frodo gets injerd and the got away to a city of elves and they meat the rest of the&nbsp; team Legolus, gimmle, gandalf, and boramer&nbsp; with the felloship together they set of on the jerny to destroy the ring.            I would then have them read silently a couple chapters a day with a partner. Between each chapter, I would have them stop and discuss about what each sibling did to show kindness and teamwork, and what unfortunate situation they were currently in. I would also have them discuss some reading strategys they used, and what questions and predictions they have. 

          Once they finish the book, I would like them to share something they liked or disliked about the book. I would also like them do see if their predictions were correct, and if their questions got answered. Then, I would assign a book report on it. The book report would include 4 paragraphs. Paragraph one would be title, author, and perspective, and why. The second paragraph would include two characters compare and contrast, with at least 3 reasons,  and the setting the book was mostly in. The third paragraph would consist of a short  summary of the book, and in the fourth paragraph, I would make them write what they thought the theme of the story is. 

              I would also have them research how there time period was similar to our time period, and how it is different. Would they rather live in that time period or now's?  How is their time period better than our's? How is it worse? What do you think could be brought from our time into their's to make it better?

            My opinion of the book: I thought it was fantastic! I just couldn't put it down. It is full of excitement and adventure, along with betrayals rescues. I would recommend that if you are going to read it, then read the first book first or else you might be confused with what is happening.  Overall, I thought the book was five stars.

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The book Boost is about a sixteen year old girl named Savy. Savy's parents are poor and don't have much money. Savy has an older sister named Callie, Callie is a flyer on varsity cheer leading. Savy loves basketball and can not loose it. During one of the games she gets called into an office and gets told they found steroids in her basketball bag. She is devastated, and does everything in her power for them to believe that those are not hers. She goes to the doctors and gets a whole bunch of tests, she wants to know but her dad is worried the tests will come back positive and she will never be able to play school ball again. Did the tests come back positive, or negative? Then I would ask them what would they do if something like this happened to them (which might happen very soon according to a report by the UN), whether they are genetically mutated to live in the water or not. Then,  I would assign the book to every student, and give them two to three months (depending on reading skill level) to read it. After everyone is done I would  ask them to write a 2-3 paragraph summary. Finally,  I would ask them what they liked and/or disliked about that book and if they would recommend it to someone else.<br><br>I personally loved this book and would rate it a nine out of ten. It would have been a ten out ten but it had many parts that, I felt, didn't need to be in the book. At the end of the book, Roz is hunted down by the Recos. will she get captured, or will she not? I recommend this book for readers that like robots, nature, and science fiction.&nbsp;<br><br>The first thing I say to my students is: what is science fiction? And I would have them discuss the topic of science fiction. When talking time was over, I would have them throw out some examples of books that they have read that may be books that might be or are science fiction books. we could then discuss some famous and well known sci-fi authors and books. Next, I would have them discuss the topic of nature and how it connects to science fiction. After that, I would have them create a rough draft of one assigned science fiction and one nature topic. we will then watch the following video and read the book as a class<br><br>This book stars on a robot named Roz that inconveniently finds herself stuck on an island that is infested with animals.&nbsp; Roz learns about the animals, their lifestyles, and the way they speak.&nbsp;<br>Roz learns to build a shelter, be a mother, communicate with other animals, and be a great neighbor and friend to the animals. Roz was a helpful robot to the other animals. She communicated with the other animals well to get the best of their &nbsp; help. One of the most contributing neighbors were, in my opinion, the beaver family. Another one of the contributions were the deer because they helped her build what is now her magnificent garden that all the other animals could graze from.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I would start the lesson by asking if they ever thought the world was one way, just to have their view completely changed. I would pair them up and each day they would read a chapter and we would discuss what happened and how they felt about the character development. I would make sure that we read chapter 17 together because of what happens to her parents. After we finish the book, I would have them draw a plant they think would represent a character in the book and write a paragraph about it. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Wyatt</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the 7th installment in the Harry Potter series. It starts off with a meeting between Voldemort and his followers, who are called "Death Eaters". The " Death Eaters " are informing Voldemort about things that are happening around England (which is where the book takes place.) The book is one of my favorites.  Its very exciting and has few dull moments. It is a great ending to the series. Personally, I think it is a 9/10.<br><br>To start my lesson, I will ask the students if they like to read Fantasy books. Then after the answer the question, I will introduce them to the book. After that I will talk a little about it, then read a little bit from the book.          <description><![CDATA[<div>  It all began by this boy named Auggie, he is different from normal kids. He went to school in the fifth grade while he had been home-schooled before by his mom. Although he had some friends in the school, he had also some enemies. Auggie’s story from his point of view was written in the first book named Wonder. “Auggie and me” is the second book which I am going to talk about. This book tells the same story by different people. Julian, Shingling, and Pluto told the story from their perspectives. The book’s theme is about accepting others regardless the differences and making good changes in life.<br> <br><br> First, I would introduce the book by asking the students to share " a situation in which they were different than other people, or if they got someone different in the class or anywhere and how they felt in such situation". After that, I would tell a short story I have recently heard about where there was a kid ( called Ruwaid) who was rejected from the school because he suffers from a disability with his upper limbs which scares some kids, the teachers in that school couldn't change that. This made me really sorry for Ruwaid. Then another school made a really perfect atmosphere between the students and Ruwaid where the kids accepted and loved him, and always willing to play and communicate with him. Also, the school gave him a scholarship until the high school. People in this school really achieved the same themes in the story in the book.<br>Then I would show them the book's trailer.<br>     After that, I would read loudly the book's summary on the back of it. I will discuss the settings by asking them to guess where the book takes place and what they expect the main problem that Auggie faced. ( Auggie struggles during class and lunch by getting lots of attention by his face.)<br><br>Then I want them to get in four groups and in each group the students take turns reading pages. I also would hand out a packet for each student to fill out during the reading time which asked about the settings, characters, and themes. And they'll need to keep their packets with them because they'll need them later. When the groups are done, I will give each group a character to talk about mainly to mention the traits. Moreover, I would like to listen to the students' comments on each personality. ( Auggie, Shingaling , Julian, and Pluto).<br><br> Finally, I will ask each group to create a slide show about their opinion in Auggie's story, and discuss the different perspectives for the characters between the groups and between the group members. I would let one person of their group to share it to me, and I would then plan on a day to look at all of the groups work.          <title>Daniel&#39;s summary for the book &#39;Wonder&#39; by R.J. Palacio</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The book is about this kid named, August Pullman.He was born with facial deformities. He has never been in a real school before and he and his parents are arguing about if he should go to school or not.  It is told in August's point of view and I think that's cool. Wonder is the first book in a series and it's the book I'm going to be talking about.<br><br>I would teach this book by first asking the kids if they have ever been new to a school and how hard it was to get used to it.  Then, I would tell them that the main character in the book suffered with that AND with deformities. He was used to being home schooled by his mom so a lot of stuff is different. I would also say that he likes science, then I would ask who else likes science and then I would probably show them the book trailer.<br><br>Then I would read them the book flap inside and ask them how they would rate it from that 1-10. Then I would let them group up and discuss the cover and the back, I would also give them paper to go to individually and write down what they think it would be like before they read it. Then we would read some chapters and then I would give them a packet to fill out for every chapter like vocabulary. There is also a book in the series called 'Mr. Browne's Precepts'. Mr. Browne is Auggie's English teacher and he has precepts for every month. He has them write down what they think it means and what it means to them, so that's also what I would put in the packet. Then we would read the rest of the book through the rest of the month and fill out the whole packet, and once we finished the book we would talk about it and then we would be done, and I would have them turn in their packets.<br><br>Overall the book is really great and I think you should read it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>    Fish in a Tree is a book about a girl named Ally who has dyslexia. She believes that she is dumb and that she doesn't need to get help. She is always able to hide her inability to read by creating distractions in class. Mr. Daniels decides to help her with her dyslexia instead of sending her to the office for making distractions.<br><br>    For my lesson plan, I would explain a bit about the plot, show them the book trailer, and ask if they had any questions. I would expect kids wouldn't know what dyslexia is, so I'd explain it. I would assign everyone to read chapters 1, 2, and 3 by the end of the month. Once the end of the month came, I would ask everyone to tell me what kind of genre the book is. I would explain how it is a realistic fiction by using examples from the story, like the bullies and how dyslexia is a real thing that affects kids and adults all over the world, but the story itself was not a real event. I would have them write one paragraph for each topic, which are the main idea, the main character, the problem, and the solution. It would be a total of 4 paragraphs but if they'd like, they could add the problem and solution into a single paragraph. I would grade them on how they paid attention to detail and if they stated everything on their paper correct. If the majority of kids got most wrong, I would work with everyone on finding the main ideas of stories and how to find problems and solutions.<br><br>   My opinion of the book: I thought this book had a very good story and taught many valuable lessons that anyone can apply to his or her everyday lives.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Written By:Alexis Fuher<br>Frozen Charlotte is a book about a girl named Sophie. While her and her friend Jay were playing with a Ouiji board at a cafe, Jay asked the spirit,"When will I die?" the spirit replied with the letters T-O-N-I-G-H-T. Jay thought that was a joke but then he tried turning of his phone before saying goodbye and it started counting down 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0... the cafe went completely dark!! A girl in the kitchen screamed! Kids were crying. Parents were yelling and you could hear plates and glasses hit the floor from people trying to get up and leave.The lights turn back o and a girl  walks out of the kitchen with burns down her left side. Later that night Jay was riding his bike on the way home from the cafe and his bike broke down and he hit his head and drowned. Sophie is now on an island with her cousins while her parents are on their anniversary. There seems to be something strange about this family. Sophie is trying to figure out many things at once!<br><br>My lesson plan will start with me reading the prologue and then they will be split into groups of 2-3 people I think they will work well with. Then they will read the book chapter by chapter with their group. After each chapter they will fill out a packet with questions on the characters and the problem, and how they solved the problem. After they finish the book they will take a little quiz online and study by playing class games such as quizlet live and kahoot. After studying for a week or so they will right an RDF on Friday about their favorite character, their favorite part, and why/why didn't they like the book.</div>]]></description>

         <title> Lesson Plan for &quot;Checked&quot; by Cynthia Kadohata                                     By Livi Olson                                                                                                       I would start out by asking the students if they have anything they are really committed to, (sports, plays, ect.) Then, I would have them make a make a word web on what the word committed means to them. They would each be given a packet, like the Seedfolks one, and would be able to choose a partner or group. They would read a chapter with their group, then one as a class. After we are about a quarter way through, the students will write a list with at least 10 words describing Connor. Once they are about half way through the book, I would ask them if they can relate with Connor or any of the other characters, and why? Then I would have them write a  RDF paragraph on how they can relate to them. Then, for the next two chapters I would have them read with a partner then have them come to me with a list with 5-7 bullets on why they think I asked them about commitment at the beginning of the project. Then, they will read to the end and I will have a vote to see if the students liked the book. Summary                                                                                                           The book is about a boy named Connor who&#39;s very committed to his favorite sport, hockey. He loves his dog Sinbad so much, when Sinbad gets very sick, he is willing to give up hockey camps for a while. Sinbad heals just in time for try-outs. When Connor makes the team of his dreams, the AAA, just a few games in, he gets injured by an illegal check. He has a concussion that will keep him off the ice for a few weeks. When he recovers, he has to gain a lot of his skill back so he can keep his spot on the team. By the end of the book, Connor is doing amazing, his new coach loves him, and he and Sinbad can go back to having lots of fun!</title>
