Even though men and women wear the same top (a t-shirt), it is quite blatant that the bottoms differentiate. The men wear baggy and long pants that comes down to the knee; however, the women wear short and tight shorts. However, this doesn't make any sense because that means that men should also be wearing short and tight shorts. On of the members of the USA volleyball team told the media, "we earn a substantial amount of money from people seeing women playing in a feminine way." This means that women are purposely exposing their body in order to sexually appeal their looks to gain audience. However, this is a serious problem because that means the women are not really showing their true sports skills; they are just appealing their looks to the crowd. Also, in this type of situation, it is actually a detriment for the men because that is one of the major reasons why the women volleyball players are paid more than the men. Not only that, the uniforms discourage the parents to get their child to play volleyball especially because of the exposure the uniform has. Also, it has been proved by Laura Witteman, a teacher who coaches volleyball in St. Joseph High School, said that there ween't any problems with female players wearing baggy and long shorts; it didn't affect their performance. Also, there aren't any endorsement deals and we don't get paid to play volleyball. However, I realize that in sports like basketball and soccer people tend to watch the men's game and then just leave. Also, people at Chadwick tends to watch the women's game more when it's volleyball season. However, I think that people at Chadwick shouldn't do that because we should be compassionate towards the ones who practiced their skills in order to compete in the games. I think that our school is not discriminative towards opposite sex because I realize that there aren't any "uniforms for women" or " uniforms for men." Even during the varsity training, I can see that both girls and boys wear their training shirts and pants freely. Also, our schools don't have uniforms that are overly exposed.
