Mary Cris Sumalinog

Friday (12:00 PM - 3:00 PM)

Enhancing technology in English language and literature education is essential in today’s digital age. It improves teaching methods, enhances student engagement, and equips learners with 21st-century skills. I want to be like in japan that their books are electronics, because as a literature student that always includes books, technology makes learning interactive through multimedia resources like videos, audiobooks, and digital storytelling. Online libraries, e-books, and open educational resources provide students with a wealth of literature beyond traditional textbooks.

Students can access classic and contemporary literary works anytime, promoting independent learning. For me, to enhance the technology when it comes to English language and literature is they should integrate e-books, audiobooks, podcasts, and interactive literature platforms to enrich learning experiences. Teachers also can utilize collaborative tools like Google Docs, discussion forums, and virtual classrooms to enhance student interaction when it comes to technology process. By integrating or enhancing the technology, special in English language and literature education is becomes more dynamic, and relevant to students with essential skills for lifelong learning and global communication.

Myra Aina G. Sabanal

Friday (12:00-3:00PM)

The Philippine education system, while possessing a wealth of dedicated educators and eager learners, faces the persistent challenge of bridging the gap between traditional pedagogical methods and the demands of a rapidly evolving digital landscape. This is particularly crucial in the realm of English language and literature, where effective communication and critical thinking skills are paramount. Integrating ICT into this curriculum is vital necessity for equipping Filipino students with the competencies they need to thrive in the 21st century. ICT integration lies in its potential to personalize and democratize learning. Traditional classroom settings often struggle to cater to diverse learning styles and paces. ICT offers a solution through adaptive learning platforms, interactive exercises, and multimedia resources. Students can access materials at their own speed, revisit complex concepts, and engage with content in ways that resonate with them. For example, instead of passively listening to lectures on Shakespeare, students can explore interactive digital versions of his plays, complete with annotations, character analyses, and even virtual tours of the Globe Theatre. This immersive experience fosters deeper understanding and appreciation for literature.

Ysulan, Febbie Mhae L.

Friday ( 12:00-3:00pm )

This integration of ICT to the English language and literature curriculum in the Philippines can be better achieved through an emphasis on digital literacy and curriculum development. It is important first to equip the studnts with their basic digital literacies. Students should be taught basic computer skills, protected in terms of internet safety, and facilitated in critical thinking in handling online sources. When entering high school, students should have been exposed to core programming concepts and should be proficient in multimedia applications. These skills shall prepare them for a digital world and equip them with all the tools they will need for their future careers. The subject of English language and literature may avail itself of technology in many areas where improvement of learning and engagement might widely be sought after. With e-books, students can carry an entire library of texts around in their hands and access a world of annotation, dictionary, and translation aids. Such online platforms include Google Scholar, academic libraries, scholarly articles, and literary critiques that help improve the research skills of students. Students can express their understanding of themes and characters of literature through interesting multimedia presentations, videos, and infographics. Online Interactive Platforms. The use of collaborative projects and sharing ideas online allows real-time feedback. Embracing technology will make the English language and literature curriculum more dynamic, interesting, and relevant to the students and teachers lives.

Aura Vios

Friday (12:00- 3:00PM)

Enhancing ICT integration in Philippine education can be achieved by strategically adapting to the changes of living in a digitally-age society. As a student and based on my observations, I believe the Philippine education system should maintain ICT curriculum and train facilitators to use digital platforms. By doing so, facilitators and students would be able to focus on developing their knowledge of English and literature, without being distracted by the navigation of e-learning platforms or interruptions during sessions. Although, some educational institutions have successfully implemented such changes and still not enough compared to other countries. Most institutions, especially under government sectors, have insufficient funds to cater large numbers of students and administrators to supply digital resources. However, considering our circumstances, technology is now regarded as a basic necessity for everyone, and we can no longer justify the lack of physical technology. We must make use of the materials that are available at the moment in order to further develop technological skills. While we wait for the Philippine education system to make progress and provide proper education on how to effectively utilize the accessible resources such as Google, virtual classrooms, e-books, Moodle, and other e-learning platforms, we need to adapt by engaging ourselves digitally and apply our basic technological skills in teaching and learning to foster a deeper recognition to English and literature.

To do this, the education system should urge schools to need to focus on a few important things. Firstly, teachers need proper training to use digital tools well. Without training, technology in classrooms won’t be very helpful. In addition, many schools still don’t have enough computers, projectors, or good internet. Thus, the government should help improve these kind of resources. Furthermore, using videos, apps, and other digital materials can make lessons more fun and effective. Instead of only using textbooks, students can learn in new and exciting ways by encouraging them to join online discussions and blogs as it can help the students improve their communication and thinking skills. Lastly, using fun learning methods like games, videos, and online quizzes can make English and literature classes more interesting. By improving these areas, schools in the Philippines can make learning more fun and effective, helping students improve their English skills and enjoy literature using modern technology.

Also, the government must support and mind the well-being of our education system, the teachers, and the learners. We could observe that we lack technology, and in terms of advancements and high-tech, we are left behind; that is why the higher officials must take the advancement of technology seriously and take action about it as soon as possible. Moreover, it is very important that teachers/instructors receive comprehensive ICT training, with a focus on pedagogical applications and digital literacy, as they will be guiding the students to learn through it. As instructors and as educators, it is also crucial to apply pedagogical techniques in learning; student-centered learning makes use of a variety of ICT resources while fostering creative, innovative approaches—because this multifaceted plan will teach students/learners the 21st-century skills and prepare them for future success.

In my own point of view, the Philippines still has a long way to go and it seems like our country has been slacking off. Hence, I believe that the Philippine education system should broaden their perspective in dealing and prioritizing the educational need of the students in terms of exploring the technological advancements and ICT. With this, I believe that the students can pave their way in becoming literate and knowledgeable enough to take a tight grasp in acquiring knowledge about linguistics and literature. Such way will definitely result in a more progressive educational system. Additionally, this progress should start with the teachers, facilitators, and all the authorities in DepEd by starting to change their ways in making the Philippines and its citizens become literate and educated in ICT and the technology itself.

Tiñgal, Michelle B.
BA-Literature 2A
Friday (12:00 NN-3:00 PM)
Enhancing ICT integration and the English language should continue to be implemented in the Philippines' education system. As it helps to hone the student's skills as well as to be more literate when it comes to technology. Another thing, we all know that by the aid of ICT, we can communicate efficiently from one place to another. Just for instance, when the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak happened, education here in the Philippines mode of learning shifted to online and blended modality. Students can attend class and can still submit their assigned task even though we're not in the face-to-face setup that time. Not only that, as a literature major, I must say that ICT really helps when it comes to accessing a variety of literary texts; writers can also efficiently compose and publish their works using any mode or platform. Furthermore, ICT plays a vital role in the Philippines' education system; that is why this curriculum should be maintained, as it benefits both the facilitators and learners as they hone and develop their skills in technology as well, enhancing the quality of education here in the Philippines and providing more opportunities in learning.

Libron, Nina Isabel

Friday (12:00 - 3:00 PM)

It is crucial for the Philippine education system for ICT to be effectively integrated in the English language and literature curriculum.

Why?

We are in the digital age and almost everything is connected and could only be accessed easily through the help of ICT.

How will the Philippine education system integrate ICT in these areas mentioned above?

The local government should prioritize education and should provide public schools the right budget, the tools and equipment needed. Schools should have computer labs that are equipped with fully functional electronics. The computer lab should be able to hold a whole class and that no one should get left behind. One thing to also do is conduct a survey for everyone and whoever doesn't have any electronics, could borrow a tablet from the local government. This program has been done by my school from my high schools days and it was very effective.

Another thing is that teachers should be fully knowledgeable in terms of ICT for them to be able to use technology or devices more effectively. Also, they should possess these qualities for them to utilize these into teaching their students. In teaching the English language and literature, it would be best if teachers would find other ways, with the help of technology, to go through their lessons and educate students rather than always sticking to the traditional and old way of teaching. The world evolved and so should the teaching scene. They could let their students use language apps, language videos on YouTube, audiobooks, podcasts, they could even access different websites, too. Books and other literary works are not always accessible in the physical world. Books are not cheap and so I think, it would be a better solution to look for these online and teachers should provide students links and where they could access them. By doing so, students would be much more relaxed while learning because they won't spend much for expensive books. They would become more literate and could catch up with the ever-evolving world.

While there have been efforts to introduce Information and Communication Technology ICT in schools, challenges such as limited resources, lack of teacher training, and poor internet access continue to hinder progress. However, with the growing importance of digital skills in today’s world, integrating ICT in education, particularly in the English language and literature curriculum, should be prioritized. To enhance ICT integration, the government must first ensure that schools have access to reliable technology. Many public schools lack computers, internet connection, and other digital tools, making it difficult for teachers to incorporate ICT into their lessons. Providing sufficient resources, including affordable gadgets and stable internet access, is a crucial step in making ICT-based learning effective.Teacher training is also essential. Even if schools have the necessary technology, many educators are not fully equipped to use digital tools in their teaching. When educators are confident in using technology, they can create more engaging and interactive lessons. Another important aspect is creating digital learning materials suited for English and literature classes. By addressing these challenges, the Philippine education system can successfully integrate ICT into the English language and literature curriculum. This will not only enhance students' learning experience but also prepare them for a more digital-driven world.

Cañeban, Aaron Grayson

BA-LIT 2A

Friday (12:00 NN- 3:00PM)

Recent technological advancements have significantly changed many areas, including education. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is now an essential tool for enhancing the processes of teaching and learning. In the Philippines, where education is consistently adapting to align with global standards, the integration of ICT into the English language and literature curriculum offers a valuable opportunity for improvement. By utilizing ICT tools and resources, educators can create more engaging, interactive, and effective learning experiences. For this to occur, the Philippine education system must embrace a comprehensive approach that encompasses curriculum development, teacher training, infrastructure enhancement, and ongoing assessment.

An effectively designed curriculum that includes ICT can greatly improve students’ understanding and appreciation of the English language and literature. Digital resources, such as interactive e-books, audiobooks, and online literature databases, can complement traditional textbooks, providing students with varied resources suited to different learning styles. Moreover, the use of multimedia tools, such as videos and podcasts, can animate literary works, allowing students to investigate diverse interpretations and analyses.

Furthermore, the implementation of collaborative online tools, such as Google Docs, discussion forums, and virtual classrooms, can encourage interactive learning. Students can partake in peer reviews, engage in discussions about literature, and collaborate on group projects seamlessly. By integrating ICT into the curriculum, educators can promote creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills-key competencies necessary in the 21st century.

Workshops and online courses can support teachers in enhancing their digital literacy, navigating various educational platforms, and adopting innovative teaching methods. A significant challenge regarding ICT integration within the Philippine education system is the availability of technological resources. Numerous schools, especially those in rural regions, encounter obstacles in accessing reliable internet, computers, and other digital materials. To address this challenge, the government must invest in upgrading school facilities, supplying digital devices, and ensuring stable internet connections.

Public-private partnerships can enhance ICT accessibility. Collaborations with technology companies and non-government organizations can enable the donation of computers, software, and educational resources. Additionally, adopting a blended learning approach, which combines traditional classroom education with offline access to digital tools, can promote inclusivity for all students, regardless of their location. The integration of ICT into the English language and literature curriculum should be paired with continuous assessment and evaluation. Schools must implement systems to monitor the effectiveness of digital learning tools and gather feedback from both students and educators. Conducting research studies and surveys can identify areas of improvement and determine effective practices.

By embracing technology, educators can craft more engaging and effective learning experiences, preparing students with essential skills for the digital era. With a collective effort from the government, educators, and stakeholders, ICT can be a transformative force in English education, equipping Filipino students for global competitiveness.

Genuine progress requires not just policies on paper but substantial results rooted in effective implementation. The government should prioritize support, especially for students, because its very purpose is to govern with the aim of improving the lives of its people. It is apparent that there is a scarce of available scholarship for English majors specifically Literature major. For me, I think that there should be a fair share of support and funding that they should give in contrast with other notable fields (medical etc). It must not be a matter of which are more important or which has a more chances of being successful. Supporting educational fields must be inclusive and be without bias.

Although, education begins at home, schools have the responsibility to nurture and develop each student’s full potential. It’s not enough to provide access to technology; there must be a deliberate effort to ensure that these tools enhance critical thinking, creativity, and a deeper understanding of language and literature. Reading and analysing literary texts must not be a choice. It should be an essential activity of every student. On the other hand, learning the English Language must be without judgement but with more encouragement and exposure. Schools should give every student opportunities to cultivate their individual potentials.

Moreover, addressing the alarmingly low reading comprehension levels among Filipino students should be a top priority. After all, what is the value of being digitally literate if students, particularly in public schools, lack the fundamental skills of reading, comprehension, and critical analysis? We must collectively realize the paramount role of reading and analytical thinking in shaping well-rounded, educated individuals.

Teachers, as the cornerstone of education, must also rise to the challenge. They should not only be adept at recognizing when students rely on AI tools such as ChatGPT or Copilot but also be deeply familiar with their students' unique capabilities and personalities. Teachers must be initiative in giving valuable school materials and diverse approaches that will cater every student's pace of learning.

The goal is not to police technology use for the students but to ensure that it complements genuine learning rather than replacing it. The utilization of such A.I. tools must be ensured that students will be not dependent on it rather be a helping hand in their learning journey.

In the end, the integration of ICT in education should serve as a chain—connecting traditional literacy with digital competence—without losing sight of the core purpose of education: to think, to question, to empathize, and to understand.

The sources of information, facilities and internet should be accessible and enough that it could accommodate a number of students not just a few.

We should also be given access to online databases, digital libraries, research papers and materials that are very crucial in proving support for doing analysis and especially academic writing.

And books in school libraries should be more diverse and inclusive.

As students we may also learn by ourselves but it's also much better when taught by teachers who have more experience. Teachers in the English field should first be the one to be trained well in digital tools, they should incorporate more the usage of digital tools in their teaching and impart the knowledge to us. Their learning materials should also be tailored to our needs and not just be the same used in other courses.

Primarily, the education sectors, the teachers must be given workshops and training for the integration in ICT in their learning standards, this does not only equip them with skills but improve the quality of education as well.

Also, with everything being online nowadays, the activities the teachers give should also be as diverse as possible, the learning materials are not alike but there should be diversity in the choice of materials.

To fully be exposed in ICT, it must also be present in all subjects. The traditional way of teaching is not bad but improvised tools should also be used to keep up. Giving students activities that checks the students improvement with their capability. As the core of it all, what the students learned is the most important. And in this topic of the knowledge that the students learned, it should also be checked if in ways that they were truthful in their activities and Artificial intelligence is used as an aid but not the one who makes the students "the aid".

Everything is also political, the government also needs to fund and give the same opportunities to English majors as well as they give to other majors.

English courses are as important as other courses, like in scholarships, CHED prioritizes Science and Math based courses which people who wants to pursue English degrees takes a reroute as they want to grab the chance on the one being given more a chance. Having the financial aid from scholarships helps students buy the devices they need in learning.

Teachers and learners have deemed technology as an immensely reliable tool that would aid in improving their quality of teaching and learning, respectively. Accordingly, I believe that the Philippine government must maximize this opportunity by providing support to the educational sector, by all means, most especially in ensuring that all educational institutions are provided with the necessary technological tools and digital learning materials of the most excellent quality. Not only that, more engaging and interactive digital activities can also be incorporated into the curriculum, so as to elevate the traditional methods of teaching and learning. Furthermore, teachers and learners must also be given the chance to enhance their skills and knowledge with regard to technology, by undergoing additional trainings and workshops.

Rosales, Ma. Darlene S.

Friday (12:00-3:00)

There is a significant difference if we compare our educational system in the Philippines to other countries. It is way underdeveloped and needs to undergo transformative changes to align with the evolving standards of our modern society. There are so many things that need to be fixed, enhanced and developed, like say for example, the ICT integration in Philippine education is limited and not every school here in the Philippines especially schools from remote places have access to computers, gadgets and the internet. With this state, students are left behind in acquiring essential digital literacy skills that are very substantial in this modern world where almost everything is about Technology. To improve and enhance the ICT integration in schools particularly in English language and literature it is better to put up accessible and affordable resources. The government should work on these initiatives as they can integrate, allocate funds and implement policies that can drive the integration of ICT in education, specifically in English language and literature. By prioritizing investing in infrastructure and providing access to digital resources to every school it would ensure that everyone will not be left behind from digital knowledge. Another strategy to integrate ICT is to make it part of the learning objectives. By allowing the use of ICT tools there would be access to different digital platforms that would help in English language and literature. It is important to note that English language and literature are vital subjects, as they play a crucial role in developing communication skills, critical thinking, and cultivating awareness. Integrating ICT into these subjects is essential to have a more effective outcome in learning.

The Philippine education system needs to undertake a broad redesigning of the curriculum, incorporating ICT as a tool for learning, research, communication, and creativity. Digital literacy-involving media analysis and online evaluation of information-should be taught alongside these lessons to prepare students to navigate their digital worlds. Equally important is the upgrading of the teachers through professional development programs that impart knowledge and skills in using multimedia content, virtual platforms, and digital storytelling tools in teaching.

In addition, improvement in the digital infrastructure must also cater to equitable access by both teachers and students to devices, stable internet connectivity, and educational software. To improve the Philippine education for the ICT integration in English language and literature curriculum, the DepEd should focus on raising up funds for the ICT integration in each of the schools. Prioritizing the gadgets that will come in handy for the ICT integration in English language and literature curriculum so that it may be more efficient and no trouble at all. The technology that we used in the Philippines are still inferior to other countries like Japan who is widely known for their hightech gadgets. First, the government should invest and prioritize the technology that will be used for ICT thus the learning for the students will be interactive and enjoyable. 2nd, schools should use digital when it comes to quizzes, projects or exams and also the government should establish good servers when it comes to internet. Third, teachers should know how to use gadgets instead of traditional like textbooks for a new and fun learning experience for the students. In cooperating with ICT integration in the English language and literature curriculum, digital apps should be used in writing their assigned tasks or assignments for their further research cause students can find it easy in searching online. Therefore, enhancing the learning experience cooperating with ICT training is very important in education both for the students and teachers for a fun learning experience.

To reach such standards, teachers should be fully equipped with the skills to properly manage the use of technology in the teaching and learning process. As facilitators, they should be trained on research and digital pedagogy to provide avenues for the exploration of the most suitable ICT tools for teaching.

The next issue concerns with supplying the teachers and learners with accessible resources that are relevant to their needs. The system must guarantee that teachers and students have the necessary digital devices and Wi-Fi connectivity to adapt to the rapidly evolving world of learning with technology. Furthermore, while most open-resource websites are convenient and accessible repositories, these websites most often than not will lack e-books and articles under the field of humanities. Finding ones written by Filipino authors is an even bigger challenge.

I think it's extremely important for the Philippine education system better to integrate ICT into English language and literature curricula. However, it's really not an easy task and requires careful consideration in all aspects.

Let's start with the teachers. Teachers are the key figures in teaching. If they can't master ICT skills proficiently, promoting this integration will be very difficult. Currently, the training organized by many schools doesn't yield satisfactory results. Many teachers still have only a superficial understanding after attending the training and simply can't apply it flexibly in the classroom. So, future training should be more targeted. Instead of just focusing on theories, a large number of practical exercises should be arranged. For example, how to create exquisite PPTs, how to embed animation effects, audio, and video in them, and how to use online teaching platforms to carry out interactive teaching, such as setting up group discussions, online tests, assignment submission and grading, etc. Teachers should be able to handle these with ease. We can even invite some teachers who have already done well in this regard to share their experiences so that everyone can learn from each other.

Next, let's talk about teaching resources. There are a huge number of English learning resources on the Internet now, but their quality varies greatly. Schools and educational departments need to put in some effort to screen them. High - quality English learning websites, like some well - known foreign online English learning platforms, have rich listening, reading, and speaking practice materials, and the content is up - to - date, allowing students to be exposed to the most authentic English expressions. Online libraries are also crucial. There should be enough English literary originals, academic papers, and other resources to facilitate students' in - depth research. Moreover, using virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) technology in literature classes would be an amazing experience. For example, when studying Romeo and Juliet, through VR technology, students can be immersed in the scenes of the story, as if they were on the streets of Verona, watching the love story of Romeo and Juliet unfold. This will definitely lead to a deeper understanding of the work.

In addition, we must adjust the use of ICT according to the actual situation of students. Students of different ages and different learning levels have different acceptance levels and needs for technology. For primary school students, since it's hard for them to concentrate for a long time, simple and interesting educational apps are especially suitable. Software like those that allow students to learn English by playing word - chain games or English jigsaw puzzles can enable them to learn in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. For junior high school students, besides educational apps, some simple online courses can be introduced, such as grammar - specific courses, so that they can choose their own study time and progress. For high school students, more complex online learning projects can be attempted. For example, they can complete an analysis report of English literary works in groups. Through online document collaboration tools, everyone can communicate and discuss anytime and anywhere. They can also use online databases to search for materials and finally present the results in class with PPTs. This not only improves their English level but also exercises their teamwork and research abilities.

In short, we should make ICT truly serve English language and literature teaching. By starting from the aspects of teachers, resources, and students, we can effectively improve the teaching quality and enable students to learn English in a better educational environment.

We require a comprehensive approach that incorporates digital technologies into the regular educational process while also guaranteeing that our teachers are competent and self-assured in their use. This entails modernizing school resources and developing a well-defined, strategic plan for the school's ICT development. Policies must provide the necessary funding and infrastructure to facilitate this. In the end, the goal is to enable educators and learners to be responsible, technologically literate, and prepared to adopt blended learning models that integrate the finest aspects of online and traditional education.

First, it's all about getting our teachers properly trained. Just giving them tech isn't enough, they need to know how to actually use it to teach English and literature. Next, we have to improve the resources in our schools. Good internet and updated computers are a must. Without these, even a well-trained teacher will have a hard time. Having a clear plan for the whole school is also super important. This way, everyone’s on the same page, and tech is used consistently in all subjects. Of course, we need to include tech in the lessons themselves. Think about using online resources, interactive stuff, and digital libraries to make learning more interesting and effective. Lastly, let's set some clear goals. What tech skills should students be learning in their English and literature classes? If we concentrate on these areas, the Philippines can build a modern learning environment that really gets students ready.

In integrating ICT to the educational system, to fully realize the potential benefits and opportunities for all stakeholders, a comprehensive, nationally prioritized strategy is essential. This strategy must address key areas of need and improvement. First, strengthening the nation's digital infrastructure is paramount. This includes expanding and strengthening internet connectivity, particularly in underserved and remote areas, and ensuring equitable access to digital resources. Secondly, a strong support systems for both teachers and learners are crucial. Teachers require professional development opportunities to enhance their technology literacy and pedagogical skills for effective ICT integration. Students, too, need guidance and support in navigating the digital learning environment. And finally, the curriculum itself must be refined. It should be designed to seamlessly incorporate ICT, fostering not only digital literacy but also critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills. By strategically addressing these core areas— infrastructure, teacher/learner support, and curriculum enhancement the Philippine education system can cultivate a generation of competent digital natives, equipped to thrive in the increasingly digital world and contribute meaningfully to the nation's future.

Guipo, Faith Aisheree D.

BAEL2A

The Philippine education system is not completely embracing the existence of ICT in education, but this is paved by various factors governing the incapability to adhere to this matter. One major factor is the financial constraints or the doubt to fund a one-time investment. President Bongbong Marcos, in a news release from the Presidential Communications Office on the 16th of January 2025, states that education is a top priority. However, the allotted budget for the DepEd Computerization Program is extremely short compared to the proposed budget, making it difficult to attain the plan for a better and quality education. Hence, this hampers the capacity to purchase laptops, computers, televisions, and other technologically operated devices to be used in the learning setting. Furthermore, the issue of equal access to electricity, especially in remotely situated schools, remains unsolved, hindering the establishment of these technological devices and hence solely relying on the traditional approach. Apart from providing these devices to provide equal access to technology and allow the learners to immerse themselves in this, there is also a lack of training for teachers on how to utilize and properly incorporate ICT in teaching. The Philippine education system shall also consider this matter to have an effective outcome and not limit the knowledge of the students as well, as they are being taught or facilitated by the teachers in utilizing the computers and educational apps and websites. Taking these recognizable issues into account could further help in enhancing a better educational system with an integration to ICT. Reiterating the must-considerations discussed by Mr. Pobadora in order to attain the main purpose of this advancement shall include standardizing, proper alignment, training, and funding as factors that are not evident even if we are gradually adapting and incorporating technology in education. Hence, the government, being the main manoeuvre on this process, has to develop and make a move for the learners to acquire enough pondered knowledge when it comes to ICT and to make the teaching process be feasible for the teachers as well. The Department of Education already proposed the plan, and it is also evident that some of the learners and teachers are providing themselves with their own technological devices, but keeping unfazed with this recurring issue is of no help for us to move forward and advance for a quality education.

Angub

Bachelor of Arts in English Language 2A

Mon - Tue (7:30 - 9:00 AM)

The Philippine education system can enhance the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching English and literature by integrating technology into lessons to improve student learning, engagement, and skill development. One of the key steps is to train teachers on how to effectively use technology in their classrooms. Workshops and seminars focused on digital literacy and how to incorporate ICT tools into lessons will help educators make learning more interactive and engaging. It is also important to ensure that all students, especially those in remote areas, have equal access to technology, the government should invest in computer labs and provide devices to schools that lack resources. This will help bridge the gap and ensure that no student is left behind in acquiring digital skills, which are crucial for both their education and future careers. Schools should also use collaborative platforms like Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom to help students submit assignments, collaborate with classmates, and engage more deeply with their work. Teaching digital literacy is essential for students to develop critical thinking and the ability to evaluate and use technology responsibly. Furthermore, the government should focus on creating partnerships with technology companies to provide students with affordable or subsidized access to online learning platforms and digital resources. Finally, incorporating multimedia resources such as video lessons and podcasts can make English and literature lessons more exciting and help students connect with the material in different ways. These steps will not only improve learning in English and literature but also prepare students for the professional world they will enter after school.

In an era characterized by rapid technological advancements that have reshaped the landscape of education, the incorporation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has evolved from being merely advantageous to becoming an imperative necessity. This transformation holds particularly true for the Philippine education system, where the advancement of ICT integration in the English Language and Literature curriculum embodies both a formidable obstacle and a momentous opportunity. Enabling students to successfully meet the evolving challenges of the 21st century demands a comprehensive strategy that encompasses various dimensions, including the formulation of effective policies, the enhancement of infrastructure, the empowerment through teacher training, the promotion of curriculum innovation, and the active engagement of stakeholders across the education sector.

The Department of Education (DepEd) should give the utmost importance to adapt a comprehensive school-wide ICT development strategy that guarantees consistency in integrating ICT into educational practices. To effectively carry out this plan, it is crucial to secure adequate financial resources and clearly define the essential ICT infrastructure needed, addressing the critical issue of providing electricity access, particularly in rural and isolated regions, is also important. Expanding initiatives for rural electrification, not only can bridge the gap in digital access, but we can also empower more educational institutions to maximize the benefits offered by ICT tools and resources.

Teachers play a pivotal role in integrating ICT into the curriculum. It is essential to provide comprehensive training programs to ensure that educators are digitally literate and confident in using ICT tools. These training sessions for teachers should build their ICT skills.

As the world becomes increasingly digital, the ability to effectively use technology in learning and communication is no longer optional but essential. The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the Philippine education system, particularly in the English language and literature curriculum, is a critical step toward preparing students for the demands of the 21st century.

Although, even with the right tools, the success of ICT integration depends largely on the teachers who implement it. Many educators in the Philippines may not yet feel confident using technology in their classrooms. To address this, comprehensive training programs must be developed to enhance teachers’ ICT skills. These programs should focus not only on technical proficiency but also on pedagogical strategies that combine traditional teaching methods with digital tools. Along with this, government support is crucial for the successful integration of ICT in education. Policies must be enacted to secure funding for ICT initiatives, and a system for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of ICT integration should be established.

The success of ICT integration also depends on the support of the broader community. Awareness campaigns can help parents and community members understand the benefits of ICT in education. Workshops for parents can equip them with the skills to support their children’s learning at home, such as by guiding them in using educational apps or online resources. By fostering a culture of digital literacy within the community, schools can create an environment that reinforces the value of ICT in education.

This includes training on using digital resources, online platforms, and multimedia materials then they'd be able to thoroughly prepare and help students for the future. It would be better as well that we're not only curriculum ready but also equipped with the gadgets/ technology. Ensuring that both teachers and students have access to the necessary technology is crucial. In this way the students would be able to experience hands on learning and the teachers would be able to guide the way. Though, private schools does not really use technology all the time, but is only frequent since they also rely on the usage of textbooks and there is nothing wrong with that nor is there a lapse in their system but there is a way to gradually make a transition by embracing and integrating ICT to make a powerful combination of learning English language and literature.

The same goes to public schools as the government plays a vital role in the Philippine education system, they should consider to allot more budget on public schools to enhance ICT integration in English language and literature curriculum as teachers are also doing there best to achieve their full capability towards practicing and training essential skills in ICT to teach the learners.

The problem with the Philippines isn't solely a technological issue, since we've only recently been given freedom within our sectors of liberty. Stemming from the country's history of multiple colonizations, a period of martial law, and subsequent leadership struggles have all contributed to a slower pace of development across various sectors, including the adoption and integration of ICT. The complicated issues impeding the Philippines' adoption of ICT and its possible effects on the country's development will be looked over in the following part.

The Philippines' ICT adoption is hindered by an underlying problem: unequal access to even basic technologies. Electricity, the foundation of modern life and a requirement for ICT, is still lacking in most rural and mountainous areas. This has a direct impact on schools and restricts educational opportunities. The most important first step is to correct this infrastructural shortcoming. Offering reliable access to electricity is possible with efficient leadership and resource allocation. Once this is done, ICT integration in a more general sense becomes much simpler. The government must prioritize policy reform toward national ICT integration in schools. Improved and transparent budgeting is necessary to ensure resources are maximally used. Curriculum development should focus on integrating digital tools and resources into English and literature classes, including interactive learning platforms, digital libraries, and multimedia resources. Teacher training is crucial, equipping educators with the skills to effectively use ICT in their instruction. Finally, ongoing evaluation and assessment are needed to ensure the effectiveness of ICT integration and make necessary adjustments. With collective effort, the Philippines can overcome these challenges, integrate ICT into its educational system, and become fully integrated into the global technological community.

This may include providing seminars or tutorials for educators to operate multimedia resources, such as e-books and interactive platforms (eg. Kahoot, Padlet) that enrich literary analysis and foster creative expression. All of which will ensure that students can engage with diverse texts through online discussions and collaborative projects. With that, incorporating virtual learning environments where students can utilize blogs, digital storytelling, and multimedia presentations will encourage critical thinking and enhance their comprehension of literary themes. Additionally, establishing partnerships with tech corporations, especially on an international scale, can facilitate the development of tailored educational software that aligns with curriculum standards, supporting students’ language skills while preparing them for a technology-driven world. These are only a few suggestive steps that can make this project feasible. At the end of the day, the responsibility lies with the government to effectively maneuver and kickstart this vision of an advanced educational curriculum. Embracing these approaches can create a dynamic and engaging learning experience that not only improves language proficiency but also ignites a lifelong passion for education.
