In Malaysia, this day is a national public holiday.<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Wesak Day observes the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautama Buddha. On this day, devotees visit the Buddhist temples at dawn and bring along flowers, candles and joss sticks as offerings to Gautama Buddha. Devotees would eat only vegetarian meals on this day.<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;At the various Buddhist temples, monks would recite verses uttered by Gautama Buddha more than twenty centuries ago. Donations to the poor and needy would also be carried out on this day. The highlight of Wesak Day in Malaysia is a candle procession together with dragon and lion dances.<br><br>1.
