For the past 2 weeks , I have learned the basics of accounting and begin to learn to do a full set account . For this week , I have completed the exercise given ( account classification ) and attended the 3rd lecture  . In this week , I have been taught about general ledger(record of each financial transaction that takes place while operating an company ), trial balance(report that makes adjustments easier to check and errors easier to locate) , profit and loss sheet ( to calculate net profit ) and balance sheet(to illustrates a business's net worth at the time) . After this , there will be no more lecture, I will be doing 6 sets of accounting and discuss it during the tutorial class. 

First , I am still overwhelmed by the vast information and I am going to use some time to digest the things that just being taught. After finishing the lecture , I felt that it is very tiring to complete an account as one has to pay a lot of attention to every detail ad be focus. 

 Throughout the journey of learning accounting , I realised how important accounting is for a business owner to make decision. From the balance sheet and profit and loss sheet  , they can know their business’s financial status and adjust their business strategy accordingly. In the same way , I think that it helps me to improve my decision making skill as I will be more aware of my own financial status. For example , I will learn to do budgeting and planning whenever I decide to buy something . 

 I made a timetable and allocate 2 days to do the exercise , 3 hrs each days. Therefore I will be able to learn effectively while I am able to enjoy my semester break !

6. My plan for next week (Week 4)

For the following weeks , I plan to complete the 6 sets of accounting . Whenever I face problems , I will bring up to the tutorial class and solve the problems together with the tutor. 

 

All good so far we had a pop quiz again and this time I was able to recognise the hand signal given by the instructor. I could now recognise it much better than the weeks before. I was also able to give out the hand signals for words and phrases given during the quiz. Eventhough , it wasn’t perfect it was much better than the previous quiz. I learnt about Colours, occupation and also the Social life in deaf community and a bit of its history as welI. I can now start a conversation in sign language , for example I can signal “ Hi , my name is Praveena “ , Nice to meet you. I can also signal phrases like “ Thank you “ , “ Sorry “ , “ Good bye “.

 

I feel very happy and proud of myself for progressing so far in this course. Previously I couldn’t understand any ASL at all but now I can at-least signal the basics and that is a huge improvement for me. I can atleast speak with the deaf community now and that makes me feel good.

 

I had to decide on which kind of hand signal that I would be able to learn. I only opt for the beginners lesson as it would take a lot of time to master it completely. Since I had no basic prior to this, going slow was the best decision I had to make. 

 

We have classes for the same amount of time every week and the same days. So I always free my schedule during that time so I can fully concentrate on it and on my free time I will practise the hand signals that I had learn.

 

  In Week 4 the plan is to master all that has been learn so far and I will have a test as an evaluation so I have to revise for it and also learn abit on the way of social interaction in the deaf community.

As this is my week 3, the topics become more difficult as there are many signs that I had to remember. As for the Place topic itself ,I learnt the signs for states in Malaysia and each capital city. All of the signs are different from each other, so it is a bit confusing for me to remember each one of them. For the occupation topic itself,there are also a lot of signs for each occupation but I just learnt the most common occupations in our country such as the sign for doctor,teacher and soldier. So far I have been familiar with 14 different signs for occupations and I enjoyed learning all the signs so much. Even though it has become tougher for me, repetition really helps me to remember all the signs and I can say that I am adaptable with all the signs that I have learnt.

I was so happy and satisfied with my progress so far in this course. At least for now, I have the basic knowledge to understand and interpret sign language. Being able to do all the signs that I have learned is really a great achievement for me.

I applied the skill of decision making by deciding to make revision of my previous topics that I have learned so far. So, by having revision and frequently repeating to do the same sign everyday really helps me to improve how fast I can do the sign. Other than that, I also applied this skill by deciding to have my own schedule to learn this course so that I can focus and concentrate to complete my elective posting.

Managing my time throughout this elective posting journey was not a big deal for me as I was on semester break so there is a lot of time that I can spend adequately to learn sign language. I had done a simple schedule to alert myself and allocate the time for me to do my elective posting. This helps me to keep my elective posting journey on track and avoid procrastination.

To learn and complete the last topics which are about weather,schedule and celebration and lastly completed the final assignment and get the certificate of completion.

In this week 3, I made a sausage bread. I always wanted to try make my own bread, finally I got this chance. I learned on how to make a bread dough, technique of kneading dough and a few tips for making a fluffy dough. Making a fluffy dough will be easier if using bread maker, but since I don’t have one, I use my hand instead. I managed to make a short video on how to make a sausage bread. In making bread dough, it is important to knead the dough correctly (so that the dough become smooth and elastic) and rest the dough adequately until the dough doubled in size. The dough needs to bake 20-25 minutes or until cooked using top and bottom heating, but since my oven doesn’t have top heating, the bottom part of the bread quite burnt (slightly). However, the taste is good. 

I’m feeling happy for the result that I got this time, which is much better that my previous week. The result makes me satisfy with my hard work. I started to like baking and cooking since I enjoyed it so much.  

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

Throughout my EP journey, I learned the skill while go through the recipes that have been posted by PJJ agents on Facebook. I review in detail each recipes and choose the recipes that I really wanted to try for my EP and highlighted them. Honestly, I want to try more recipes later after EP.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey? 

Since I’m at home, I don’t have any issues with time management at all. Every week I will review the recipes that I already highlighted (I want to try for specific week as plan), prepared the ingredients and try the recipes.

2. Your progress so far

My third week of elective posting went well according to my schedule.I learned 2 recipes which are bread pudding with custard sauce and garlic bread with mushrom soup.Both of them turned out pretty well with compliments from my family members and neighbours. This made me more motivated for the next week.

3. Your feelings and thoughts 

Compared to before,i can feel that i were more confident to bake with these some practice.However, i was nervous when baking as i did not want them to end up in miserable way. Furthermore,i still need to be careful and aware in my steps to reduce minor mistakes especially when using some inexperienced items and ingredients.

 

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

During my elective posting journey, there are multiple moments where my decision making are paramount and cloudy. For example, when i was deciding my course for elective posting, i took several weeks just to choose my course due to many of them were interested to explore. However, with some research,i decided to pick one which can benefit me in the future. Thus, I decided to learn the basics of baking as a small stepping stone in pursuing my hobby. 

On other hand, decision making is also important in choosing recipes during my time in this course. When i made list of recipes, i need to make decisions on what to take and pick the best for submission. These decisions are important and must be made correctly. Thus, o believe this EP course has helped me a lot in decision making. 

 

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey? 

During my EP journey, i must manage my time carefully between house chores. Everyday, i will settle the house chores first and anything important that i had to do. i made all these EP tasks as a rewarding tasks that i did during my leisure time after i had fulfill all the other commitments and priorities.
