One of the main disadvantages of Britain during the revolutionary war was fighting in an unknown territory. They didn't know the lands whatsoever and were vulnerable to an attack from anywhere. Also the debate among the British people if the war was necessary due to the costly nature of it, was a big topic back in Britain. Some of the American colonists weaknesses included; difficulties raising funds for the war, no navy, a very small army, no training or organization, and many colonists still supported the Crown. People who came to the new world came to star over. There were no soldiers who came just regular people. The soldiers the did come down did not have the resources to teach other people how to fight. Most people went into war without knowing how to fight which led to many colonists' casualties. During the period there were either patriots, loyalists, or neutralists. Patriots being the people who wanted independence from Britain, Loyalists who remained loyal to the British crown, and neutralists who didn't care what happened either way.
