1. What does international-mindedness mean to you?

In general, we support an international mindedness in order to develop an open-minded vision, we ask the students to be thinkers and make connections among the taught subjects and between what they have learnt and the real life. We also make students work in team with the aim of developing the caring attribute and communication skills.

2.	What does it means to be a “global citizen”?

Risk-taking is an important way of knowing in science and as educators, and we have an important role to play in encouraging strategic and thoughtful risk-taking in our students. I find students with a fixed mindset don't tend to be risk takers. We have a number of ongoing issues line climate change, food scarcity, poverty etc, which affect somehow on the global level. A global citizen is who needs to care about that in order to overcome with the problems.

3.	How do schools today prepare students for global citizenship within biology and other group 4 subjects?

Our school’s learner profile is basically based on the foundation to encouraging and supporting our student at the international level in order to make them very interdisciplinary and a broad range of humanity who can help to lead a better and more peaceful world. We promote a positive environment by helping our students to work as a ‘Team’ to share their thoughts, ideas and to be innovative in one hand but also flexible on the other hand, in order to prepare them to overcome with any difficulties or problems.

If I would have to choose the attribute of the learner profile to represent a biology student, I would first choose the ability to communicate. The reason is because, I believe that all the knowledge what we could get shouldn’t just be based on the following the traditional trends but in the current age there is a strong need to translate that knowledge in the simplest communicating language to connect with the people and to be able to share their opinion in order solve their problems.

The advantages of an international community working together to solve problems that concern all of us is not as clear as in the IB program.

Attribute: When I think about my biology students the term Inquirers fits the best. I am consistently fascinated by the fact that these students have so much questions. And when you answer them they want to know more...and more...
