Hi everyone! I’m the Technology Staff Developer at the John F. Kennedy School. I’ve been teaching for 32 years, with 28 of those years at JFK. Over the years, I’ve taught kindergarten, first, third, fourth, and fifth grade before moving into my current role teaching technology.

I’m passionate about helping teachers and students use technology to create, collaborate, and explore new possibilities. I’m proud to be an Apple Teacher and an Apple Learning Coach, as well as an AI Pioneer for Seesaw and Magic School.

I have a lot of experience with Parentsquare but new things are always changing and I look forward to learning and growing with all of you in this class!

Hola! My name is Erin Vargo and I am the librarian at JFK Elementary. This is my 3rd year in the district. I'm originally from Upstate NY and moved down to Long Island to be here. I love taking in-service classes and I love doing anything tech-y. I did Laura's course over the summer so now I'm a certified Apple Teacher and I was very excited to add that to my email signature.

Hi! I am an 8th grade Earth and Space Science teacher at South Middle School. This is my 8th year teaching, all 8 years have been in Great Neck. I started as a student teacher at SMS, then got a probationary position the next year working at North Middle. This is now my second year back at SMS. In addition to Earth Science over the past few years I have also taught 6th grade Science as well as Science Research. I don't have a ton of experience with ParentSquare, but am taking this course to hopefully learn more about the functions and how to utilize it better!

I am the Occupational Therapist at JFK. I have been working as an OT for 15 years and this is my 5th year in Great Neck. I have worked with kids of all ages and am currently loving being in the elementary school. I want to continue to increase my knowledge of parent square and use it more efficiently. It has been a great tool so far, and I hope to figure out how to use it more effectively as an OT.

Hello! My name is Michael Sorrentino. I teach 4th and 5th grade band at Lakeville, and this year marks my 11th year teaching and my 4th year in GNPS. In addition to teaching, I coach Varsity Wrestling at South High School and work part time at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where I teach group brass lessons. In my free time, I enjoy fishing on my boat, playing beach volleyball, and snowboarding.

About Me
Hello, my name is Jesus Modesto, and I’m proud to be an art teacher at John F. Kennedy. This is my 4th year teaching in the Great Neck School District. Before joining Great Neck, I taught art in Commack, and I also continue to share my passion for the arts through my work at the Gold Coast Arts Center here in Great Neck.

I have a strong interest in digital animation and love working on both 2D and 3D character design. Beyond teaching traditional art skills, I enjoy exploring creative technologies with students and encouraging them to find their own artistic voice.

This year, one of my goals is to use ParentSquare more effectively to keep families up to date on the exciting events and programs happening in my classroom. I look forward to another wonderful year of creativity and growth with my students!

Hi! I am Siqi Tao, and this is my 2nd year in Great Neck and my 9th year teaching. In the past few years, I've mostly been teaching grades 1–2, and here in Lakeville, I'm teaching 5th! It was a huge jump, but so far I like it. This is my 10th year in the U.S., and I came here in 2015 for graduate school at Fordham University. This is my second year using ParentSquare, and I'm sure I know the basic functions. If I need anything there, I can always find a way to communicate with parents. I want to learn how to be more efficient in communicating with parents, and at the same time, I would love to learn how the auto-translate function works for non-English speaking parents.
