Jan 30, 1933: Hitler becomes chancellor

Hindenburg agreed to Hitler becoming chancellor. This then led the Jewish to be in power. He immediately set about abolishing the powers of states.

Aug 31, 1935: Neutrality acts

After a lot of arguing and debate between Congress, the Neutrality acts were put into place. This act allowed all trade with belligerent nations under the terms of "cash and carry." And American ships were barred from transporting goods to belligerent ports.

March 12, 1938: Anschluss

This occurred when Austria combined with Germany. This decision was made by Hitler, Austria was allowed to vote but it was not anonymous, so almost everyone voted with anschluss.

Sept 1, 1939: Invasion of Poland

July 10, 1940: Battle of Britain

The Royal Air Force and the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy defended the United Kingdom against the Nazi air force, the Luftwaffe. This was the first major military campaign fought only by air forces.

March 11, 1941: Lend- Lease Agreement

This act was set up to where America was able to lend war supplies to any nation. America only lend supplies to countries that protected the United States.

December 7, 1941: Attack on Pearl Harbor

This was a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base by Japanese Navy Air. This brought the U.S. into the war, almost immediately declaring war on Japan.

June 4, 1942: Battle of Midway

This Battle was mostly fought with Air craft between the U.S. and Japanese naval forces. The U.S. destroyed Japan's first-line carrier power and Japan's best trained naval pilots.

August 23, 1942: Battle of Stalingrad

This Battle was between the Soviet Union and Germany. The Soviet Union had a big defeat on the German army, preventing Germany from taking more territory. This Battle took the name of Josef Stalin, Soviet dictator.

September, 1945: Japan Surrenders

Germany and allies were exhausted at this point, and citizens were starting to rebel. Therefore, Jodl signed the instrument of surrender and ended the war in Europe. The country was split with the west and west Berlin administered by the U.S., United kingdom, and France. East and east Berlin was administered by the Soviet Union.
