This element  sounds really simple but I think it's the most complicated and important one. Without it we can't have the outstanding and wonderful artwork like we have today. For Ratliff, He thought "Linking" could be shapes and motion a musician or a band or composer made to achieve the condition of music like composer Edgar Varese called "Organized sounds". In addition, "linking" music for Ratliff could be define as certain pieces of music show supreme organization that we recognized implicitly since music moves linearly through time. For example, Gabriel Faure's piano "Quintets" which were composed, in a macro sense, with so-called sonata form. But the heart-destroying slow third movement of his Piano Quintet No.2, touching down in variations on three melodic motifs - gives the impression of moving forward without circling back to step one, without externally imposed form or square movement. It linked the composer consciousness to the listeners. Another example given by Ratliff was this version played by Quatour Ysaye, with  Pascal Roge as pianist, which was at about 6:45 where a three-note descending motif pushed through different keys and backgrounds, developing slowly and intensely connected listener's complicated feeling in life. This showed a great constant and complex chain-linking- of melodic strains, and emotions. Or another example from Ratliff was the slow movement of Faure op.115 "Spiritual" with the band leader Donald Lawrence who linked the band together with logic structure and made the success. It was just a simple element and we should let it be like that. Moreover, I think he's missing the most important part of "Linking" in music, which is linking the music itself to normal activities. Like I always have more energy and forget about the pain when I go to the Gym while I listen to music. Music connect to my mind and some of my EDM workout music like Major Lazer - Know no better, or Numb by Linkin Park.
