"We told him about beating the Socs and.... I don't know he just died"(Hinton152).

This word is used frequently throughout the entire book because the greasers (main characters) in the book fight against them.

Greasers: middle class, poor kids in the youth age of the book; brother hood like their greasy hair 

"The shade of difference that separates a greaser from a hood wasn't present in Dally"(Hinton 10).

Greasers are the main characters of the book and aren't he brothers of the narrator.
 
Heater : firearm , typically a hand gun. 

"I remembered his voice: I been carryin' a heater. It ain't loaded but it sure does help a bluff"(Hinton 153).

Events that happen in the book are based on very possible events that could happen but the events never happened so in that case it's realistic fiction.
