My dad got Maria for my 4th birthday. I moved to America from Belarus when I was 2 and she was my first friend ever. She is one of the reasons that I am happy to come home everyday. I have a huge emotional attachment to my cat that not a lot of people have with people. She helps with my anxiety. It's almost as if she can feel it and comes to me right away to help.

This is a book of memories from kindergarten. I was a very shy kid growing and to be honest still kind of am. But this book has pictures of me and my first human best friend. We have been friends since the first day of kindergarten and counting. She stayed to be my only best friend throughout the years, and I would trust her with my life. The book holds our memories forever and I'll be able to show my kids our funny moments.

In art class I made a clay sculpture of a cat. It was supposed to be my cat, Maria, but it really doesn't look remotely even like a cat. But my 1st grade self was quite proud of this one. I remember showing my mom and being so excited that I was able to make something so cool, at least for back in the day.

This is Brownie. My stuffed animal Rottweiler that I named Brownie when I was 6 and I have never put him away since. He has had a special spot on my bed since 2010. My mother came home from work one day and had him in her hand and said "here" and ever since that day it's been so special to me. It has really no huge value but I get attached to pointless little things all the time just because someone gives them to me.

Almost all of my family lives across the Atlantic Ocean. I have some family in Russia, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Italy, and probably somewhere else. Which is really exciting and cool but I never get to see them. The last time I saw my grandmothers was when I was 7 so in 2011. We don't get to see each other often because of money and they can't move anymore because they're everything is over there so I get to talk to them over the phone once every 2 weeks. I wish it could be different but this is a Russian doll my grandmother gave me when she came to visit 9 years ago. It takes up a very big place in my heart.

I play video games. I really got into it because of my father. When I was younger he would play for 12 hours straight and I would sit next to him and watch for that long. I really love it now and I play almost every day. Well at least I try to but getting older and having more things to do doesn't really allow me to play as much anymore. But this was a huge moment of bonding for my dad and I over the years.

This is a friendship ring that my other best friend and I got when we went to cape may for vacation together. We've been friends since 3rd grade and we met in summer camp. The story of how we met was pretty funny. She came up to me and introduced herself, and the shy self I was I looked at her and just smiled even though she asked for my name. I then proceeded to walk away. Then another girl looked at her and said, "can't you see Liza doesn't want to be friends with you." I got really angry that she would talk to someone like that and I got over my shyness and said, "hi, my name is Liza." And ever since that day we have been inseparable. But this ring always reminds me of all the holidays, memories, laughs, and getting in trouble for doing something stupid. I learned young that it's not about the quantity of friends but the quality. And this ring reminds me of that everyday.
