Final diary entry dated 20th April 2017

In this final padlet entry I am going to talk about how I conducted myself for the project, how I developed audio for the project, what new skills I developed because of the project, what the challenges of the production was to make to the final product, technical Barriers that was overcome, how group and these technical problems were overcome, what I still need to explore technically, and finally what new skills I have learnt from the project. I conducted myself professionally during the project for the client and jumped into items such as planning, software that will be used for the project, what props will be needed for the production, and the basis story for the production. For the audio me and Adrian got one of his friends to make some music for the production, which was perfect and fitted well with the production whilst playing on emotions. We had permission to use this music for the production. New skills that I developed due to the project was working to a tight deadline, using the onion peel effectively to make a smooth flowing stop motion animation for the production. I also used editing software to make a professional quality product. Challenges of the production was making (and keeping upright) the clay figures used in the production and also assembling these clay figures to look presentable. Also props such as trees and benches needed to be molded out of clay, so it was also very time consuming. I am glad with how the clay figures came out for the video, even though moving the figures was very fiddly and took extreme patience. Technical barriers that were overcome included having to make sure the camera was focuses all the time, and caused a lot of shots to be deleted due to bad quality/blurring. Another issue that happened was the software sometimes crashed, so we always made sure the work was saved every 10 minutes.
Luckily for me my group was good and I had a very hard working individual with me so there was no problems, we have worked together and we both knew the tasks we needed to do when we started every morning. What I need to explore technically is more of the specialised items in the new premier pro, as even though I know almost everything about the old premier pro, the new premier pro has a slightly different layout and more features on it than the old premier pro. New skills include onion peel effect, using stop motion animation, (using onion peel for clay character placement) and also using new apps (GarageBand being my favourite) to help record voiceovers and to help create sections of music.

Today we did the final editing for the music video, using premier pro in order to create subtitles with animation, add music into the production. the issue we had was with the software. Also to create a professional finished production for the client who is Steve youens. The client will then give feedback on the video to then show what was good about the video, how Steve youens, my client (and his boss) thought about the music video. Will then reflect on this feedback to see where I could have improved my music video. I have learnt today to always work to before a deadline, just in case something goes wrong, so you have time to rectify a situation.

Today we did the final shots for the stop animation for the deadline on Monday afternoon. The final shots went well, with only a few issues involved in the production of the final stop motion animation shots. On Monday morning till 12:20 we will be editing the shots from the production for the presentation and we will be housing music and subtitles for the fully finished 999 hoax calls animation. The feedback was to add voice and speech for the animation to give the stop motion animation more effect. This was seen by the client and was responded to as needing these effects, which have now been carried out. I will also make sure the rest of the work has been effectively finished to a high standard.

Today we continued making our stop motion animation production. Today we focuses on props and detail. The problem we had was that the figures also had a tendency not to stand up fully, and had the chance to fall over, therefore ruining the scene as it was near to impossible to put the figures back in the same place whilst using the onion peel effect. We realised that by putting metal strips into the figures that the figures had more rigidity and was more effective. Making and using these figures helped us improve our hand co- ordination as at times it could be very fiddly. I learnt also in this lesson how to use the onion peel effect effectively.

We added in metal to our clay figures in order to make the figures easier to position and also so they do not fall apart during the production. Today we started the first scenes of the stop motion animation, making sure the scenes worked correctly and using skills like the onion peel effect and the camera focus and positioning to get the best animation possible.

We then took some test shots so that my team could see the animation in motion and understand also how to use the cameras and test the onion peel effect, which is a reflection of the last screenshot you took for the stop motion animation. It is very important that you make sure the images in each screenshot is VERY close or the animation will jump.

Today I looked at animation as an idea for 999 hoax calls. We looked at the frame rate for a second of animation and also showed us how animations work through also the (onion peel) effect. we were also shown how to make stop start animation. to make the stop start animation we took a series of shots to make the animation seem alive and used the 'onion peel' effect to make the series of shots by showing us how far we had moved from the past shot. The animation shows when these shots are pieced together to make a video that shows the shots when played. there is 12 frames in a single second with only the one frame or 24 with two frames per second. figures for the animation include Dolls with movable joints or clay figures that are often used in stop motion for their ease of re positioning. Stop motion animation using Plasticine is called clay animation or "clay-mation". Not all stop motion requires figures or models; many stop motion films can involve using humans, household appliances and other things for comedic effect. Stop motion using objects is sometimes referred to as object animation.

Today we looked at researching audio E books, short animation and documentaries for the video that I will create for the presentation to Steve, who is in the service. The idea that I currently have to is to make a short stop motion animation for the young audience the video I will be presenting towards. I enjoyed the E books were very simple, and suited better towards a younger audience. short animation also proved to be effective. The issue with a documentary is they are suited to an older audience due to the lack of colours and also they are too factual and long winded at points. The lesson also helped me look at the idea for the production that was best suited towards me. An example of a good E book is the nhs Dee a and e fail tale, which is good for children yet effective.

Today we spoke to Steve who is an ambulance driver who showed us how hard everyday life is for an ambulance driver. he also asked us for a piece of work to fulfil the task of making a video so that people do not waste 999 calls and only use them in an emergency. He also spoke about statistics and the effect of a hoax call to the emergency services, also describing about how to send out an ambulance costs 1000 pounds a time, which is a lot for a fake call. it also endangers the drivers, who believe it is a real call and risk the possibility of harm to themselves and other road users. I learnt in the session these statistics and realised how important educating children and young adults about hoax calling and how important it is for these people to be educated about hoax calling.
