         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Apr 9, 1942 – Apr 17, 1942</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Description:</strong> Bataan Death March, march in the Philippines of some 66 miles that 76,000 prisoners of war (66,000 Filipinos, 10,000 Americans) were forced by the Japanese military to endure in April 1942, during the early stages of World War 2.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Outcome:</strong> Many American and Filipino soldiers died during the Bataan Death March because they were treated very badly. It showed how cruel the Japanese army was in World War 2. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Significance:</strong> The Bataan Death March helped people understand the cruel reality of the war and showed the bravery of all the soldiers who suffered. </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>
