Agriculture in Africa
About, 70 percent of the population in Africa directly depend on agriculture for their livelihood means that we should and must give the sector more attention. Investing in these farmers, mostly smallholders l, by giving them access to appropriate seeds and fertilizers, and by ensuring availability of information on proper farming practices, yields will double or even triple many instances. To link these farmers to functional, national and regional markets will, at the bare minimum,double their incomes.Take Uganda as an example. With a population of 40m, doubling income would raise per capital income to about $1,200 from the current $600 . This would not only bring Uganda closer to it's aspiration of becoming a middle - income nation by 2020 .It improves the lives of millions of farmers significantly, while enlivening rural economies and securing them to access otherwise hard to reach services such as good quality education,health services and off - farm jobs .

Over 90% of agriculture depends on rainfall, with no artificial irrigation aid.

Africa is the second most populated continent after Asia
Its population is only 1.216 billion which is 15.5% of the world's population.
It has plenty of natural

Africa has a large quantity of natural resources, including diamonds, salt, gold, iron, cobalt, 'llwoods and tropical fruits. Having a low human density, for a long period of time Africa has been colonized by more dynamic groups, exploiting African resources. Some economists[1] have talked about the 'scourge of raw materials', large quantities of rare raw materials putting Africa under heavy pressures and tensions, leading to wars and slow development. Despite these abundance of natural resources, claims suggest that many Western nations like the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom as well as emerging economic powerhouses like China often exploit Africa's natural resources today, causing most of the value and money from the natural resources to go to the West and East Asia rather than Africa, further causing the poverty in Africa.[2]
</sup>

African oil takes growing importance, mainly after the 2014 oil crisis and recent oil reservesdiscoveries. Sudan and Nigeria are two of the main oil producers. China owns 40% of Congo's oil production. Oil is provided by both continental and offshore productions. Sudan's oil exports in 2010 are estimated by the United States Department of State at $9 billion with United States dollars.[3]
</sup>

Five countries dominate Africa's upstream oil production. Other oil producing countries are Gabon, Congo, Cameroon, Tunisia, Equatorial Guinea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Côte d'Ivoire.
