Russia is part of Northern Asia and Eastern Europe. Also is more than half of Asia Continent. Russia is home to many big regions put the main four are Siberia, The far east, The core region, and The Southern region.
Russia is a very popular place to visit and travel with big cities like Moscow(12 million), Kazan(1.1 million), and Saints Petersburg(4.9 million),etc.
Russia's popularity also comes from their big and pretty land marks though out the big cites. Some of the most popular sights are in Moscow the Capital.

Russia has gone through several different types of government.
Today as of June in 1990 they are a federal republic. When Russia was called the Soviet Union (from December 30, 1922- December 25, 1990) they had a communist government.
In the period from 2005 to 2008, Freedom House rated Russia as "not free" with scores of 6 for political rights and 5 for civil liberties according to its Freedom in the World reports.

Russia has a long rich culture of literature, ballet,and classical music. While outsiders think see Russia as a drab. Russia is really just a beautiful and colorful country.
Russian culture is non-individualistic. The power of an individual in Russia is much less than in the west and most deals are pushed through family, friends and acquaintances. Another famous Russian saying is, "One is not a soldier in the battlefield." In Russia, it is necessary to know people in power to make things work.
One of the most popular things to do in Russia is play hockey and soccer.

Russia's currency is called rubles. One ruble is equal to 0.014 United States Dollars.
When Russia was the Soviet union and they were communist, most people were very poor then. But when they swtiched back to a republic, people were ever poorer than before. At least when they were communist everyone was getting the same, it wasn't a lot, but they managed. The rich are the only people that have a decent amount of money. Everyone else is very poor.
Russia big industries include oil and gas, mining, processing precious stones and metals, aircraft building, aerospace production, weapons and military machinery manufacture, electric engineering, pulp-and-paper production, automotive industry, transport, road and agriculture

Russia is the largest country in the world. Russia is so big that it could be it's own continent. Russia is so big that it is in Europe and Asia.

 In east Russia they have a mountain range to the east called the Ural Mountains. They are very low and flat. You can go to the Ural Mountains in Russia and you can actually stand between the two continents.

Russia can get warm in the summeers, but brutally cold in the winters. On 6 February 1933, a temperature of −67.7 °C was recored in Russia. Russia's hottest day was 38 degrees celsius. (Around 100 degress farenheit)

Russia is a vey old country, so it has a lot of history. Russia's histroy can be recorded to the 800's. We are going to start at 1990 when the Soviet Union fell.
The soviet union fell on Christmas day on 1991. They get rid of the communist government and elect Vladimir Putin as prime misister or president.
Vladimir Putin gets reelected twice in a row and is still president of russia to this day.
