         <description><![CDATA[<div>Columbus set sail for India in August, 1492. He took 3 ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. He went in search of a shortcut to the Indies to find spices and gold. His trip was funded by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. He landed in Hispaniola in October. He named the natives there "Indians" because he thought he landed in India.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pizarro defeated the Inca civilization with many tools. One was horses. These giant creatures were completely unknown to them and scared them greatly. Another powerful tool they had were weapons. The had powerful weapons made of steel and they had guns. He also defeated the Incas by kidnapping their ruler. Once he had their ruler under control, the empire quickly fell apart and he quickly defeated them.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Aztecs first encountered Cortes in 1521 when he came to the new world. The Aztecs are a native tribe. They had barely had any weaponry or armory. They only had bronze tools . The Aztecs died out because they were defeated by Cortes and his 500 soldiers. Even though the Aztecs had a higher populated army and they should of had an advantage for the battles, they didn't, but the Europeans did. The Europeans 's defeated the Aztecs with their advanced weapons and with the help of the disease smallpox. Smallpox was spread to the Aztecs from a European. The Aztecs no protection from the deadly disease, however the Europeans did.</div>]]></description>
