For the first half of the school year, Mr. Kermit who is the SCS-8 teacher comes in late, sits at his desk doing crosswords puzzles, ignoring his students while drinking coffee from his huge mug which his students called the Toilet Bowel  due to its size.  Mr. Kermit doesn’t care about teaching any more and his main focus is to finish the school year and qualify for early retirement but, the superintendent, Dr. Thaddaeus wants to fire him or get him to quit before the end of the year so that Mr. Kermit loses his early retirement.  This is how Mr. Kermit became the teacher of the Unteachables.  To make things worse, Dr. Thaddaeus tells Mr. Kermit that his students need to get better science scores this year than in the past.  If they don’t, Mr. Kermit will be fired. 

              This changes everything!  Mr. Kermit redesigns his classroom to make it more suitable for learning, he takes the class on educational field trips, and starts teaching them.  The students started caring and listing to Mr. Kermit.

              A few weeks later the SCS-8 took the science test.  But, since Kiana was not registered at the school her science test grade did not count for the class.  Without Kiana’s score, the rest of the SCS-8 class grades were not high enough to keep Mr. Kermit from being fired. Even their efforts at the science fair failed and Mr. Kermit was going to be fired. At the very end of the book the substitute teacher aka Dawn of the dead, (that the entire class did not like) son saved Mr. Kermit. Her son worked for the local newspaper office and wrote an article that stopped Mr. Kermit from being fired.
