Seventeen (세븐틴), stylized as SEVENTEEN or SVT, is a South Korean boy group formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2015. The group consists of thirteen members:

Group Formation and Debut:

Seventeen has been active since 2013, appearing in regular live broadcasts of "Seventeen TV" on Ustream, showcasing the trainees and their practice sessions. Before their official debut, they also starred in the reality show "Seventeen Project: Big Debut Plan" on MBC. Seventeen officially debuted on May 26, 2015, with a live showcase televised by MBC. Their first EP, "17 Carat," was released digitally three days later.

Sub-Units:

The thirteen members are divided into three sub-units, each with a different area of specialization:

• Hip-Hop Unit: S.Coups (leader), Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon

• Vocal Unit: Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi (leader), DK, and Seungkwan

• Performance Unit: Jun, Hoshi (leader), The8, and Dino

Seventeen also has a sub-unit called BSS (BooSeokSoon), consisting of members Hoshi, DK, and Seungkwan.

Musical Style and Achievements

Seventeen is known as a "self-producing" idol group, with the members actively involved in songwriting, music production, and choreography. Their music incorporates various genres, including pop, EDM, and hip-hop. Seventeen's engaging social media presence, especially on platforms like Twitter and YouTube, has significantly contributed to their strong connection with fans, known as "Carats".
