-Measures how well students apply their knowledge, skills, and abilities to authentic problems. The key feature is that it requires the student to produce something, such as a report, experiment, or performance, which is scored against specific criteria.

-Experts have said that performance assessment increases students' engagement and enhances their learning experiences. This is because performance assessment lets students play an active role in the process. Students choose their topic or come up with their own creative ways to demonstrate their understanding of the topic. This allows students to take ownership of their learning and thus makes it more appealing to them.

Source: https://www.edweek.org/teaching-learning/what-is-performance-assessment/2019/02

The idea of Assessment as Learning is based on the philosophy of Assessment for Learning. However, it puts more emphasis on feedback and metacognition. The key point is that AaL enables students to learn about themselves as learners. In this process, they will develop metacognitive skills and learn to self regulate their own learning.

Through AoL, students will be able to decide what their next step is going to be in the learning process. This type of assessment will encourage students to become active participants and take responsibility for their own progress in learning.

Source: https://www.century.tech/news/what-is-assessment-as-learning-enhancing-teaching-with-data/
