   Fr. Charles believes the elvish artifacts are good examples of how sacramentals function due to the imagination behind them. In The Lord of the Rings they put certain artifacts of importance in the same ways we put the wine and the bread of importance. An example are the 'elvish clokes" which appear as regular cloaks however, they are supposed to carry some sort of 'supernatural' properties. How is this different than how Catholics understand the Eucharist? 

And yet, why does Fr. Charlie state that it can still be considered to be sacramental? 

  The lembas bread is different and seen different in ways  that its more of a "cake" and it was their only food at certain points. It also would revive spirits. The Eucharist doesn't have physical capabilities its the catholic imagination that goes hand in hand with it becoming the bread and body for eternal life in heaven. The Eucharist is derived from ordinary bread consecrated by the priest for Catholics. In the lembas bread, none of this is present.
 Fr Charlie still states that it can be sacramental because it "fed the will and gave strength to endure," those connecting with the effects of the Eucharist.

What do these do and how do these provide a sacramental effect? 

   The Horns of Rohan serve as another example of a sacramental in a different way because they are human creations. They do not posses and type of elvish magic. Their great virtue lies in their power to summon courage and warn for despair. Horns mean defiance, recklessness going on even when their is no hope. They call the orks blowing fierce and free like God calls us to follow him within the sacraments.

The Horns of Eorl 
      A gift given, ancient and silver. It is a heirloom of her house made by the dwarfs. It sets fear in the hearts of his enemies and joy in the hears of his friends. It will summon the courage of the men when needed. This relates into the faith because we know the bread calls us to God and raises fear in satan.
