Towards the end, at least from Eugene's perspective, this was maybe not a symbiotic relationship for he believed he received more.

He also donned contact lens and glued blood filled finger pads , tied urine pouches and carried with him any other human body bits that Jerome would lend  him to use if required. In order to go to work without people finding out who he really is he needs to do these daily routines.

Jerome's role in the routine was to provide Vincent his urine, blood, and hair that is needed to pass the genetic tests at work. 

Vincent 's willingness to be a "borrowed ladder"  says that he's determined and willing to bare with the pain from having legs extensions to be as tall as Jerome, go on the same routine all morning, and going to work, completing his job perfectly without other realising in order go to space "Titan".
