In the poem, "In Paths Untrodden" the idea of transcendental is a very major theme. The idea of transcendentalism comes through initiation and imagination not through logic or the senses. A transcendentalist looks beyond what everyone else tells them. They have knowledge of themselves and the world around them. This poem shows this idea because the person in the poem is trying to prove a point that it is better to be alone. He is able to realize what his true meaning in life is and how he is going to do everything to fulfill it. He has also gone out of his comfort zone to discover that there is more to nature than what he believed. Through this poem you could tell that while he was in his quite place he could dig deeper into his soul and could hear, see, taste , touch and feel all of his surrounding.

Ambiguity- You are not aware of Whitman's views on things, but he talks about them. "Science, ships, politics, cities, factories, are not nothing
—they serve"
Stanza- This poem has several stanzas which include quatrains and quintains.
Aphorism- This is a small amount of words that means a true thing. The line, "But we too announce solid things" is true because people do bring up facts they know. If someone is cheating, and they saw it, they may say something.

Diction- Whitman creates his own diction because he uses the free form style of poetry. in the line, "Science, ships, politics, cities, factories, are not nothing" Whitman starts to rhyme and then totally changes the line.
Tone- Uses an informal calm tone, speaks to us as if we are friends. "As I walk, solitary, unattended"
Monologue- Whitman's texts speaks at people not with them. ""

In the poem "As I walk, solitary, unattended." The idea of Transcendentalism is also a very major theme. The idea of transcendentalism come in many different shapes and forms. In this poem the author relates his ideas to the ideas of the real world. The author first describes about an average day in America; trains, boats, politics, factories and very loud people. Then he begins to describe what he believes the world should be paying attention too. He emphasizes on the word freedom and us as humans. He like many other transcendentalist poets believes that the soul is most important anywhere. He tells us that when the world begins to crumble all there will be is us and no one else. This is an example of a transcendentalism poem because he digs deeper into the meaning of life. He emphasizes how our future will soon be just us and our souls.
