The way the country would be run would have to be very different and there would probably be different ways of doing things. I think they would be focused on trying to keep the people that were still alive safe so nothing would happen to them either. There would probably be different things for school and public places that lots of people go to on a daily basis because that's why some people could be dying. At times, some towns and villages lost half or more of their population within a matter of weeks. It is now your task to imagine what your life would be like if half of the US population would disappear within the next year. How would it affect the economy, social life, politics, religion, etc. 

If in the next year half the population was wiped out by the plague, life would be very different. Government would fall apart as leaders decided they would rather save themselves then work to protect the people. there would be a shortage of supplies as people would stop producing food etc. to focus on survival. there would be lots of crime and very dangerous.

For starters, our economy would drop immensely because the jobs people did to help our lives , we'd have no longer. There also wouldn't be as much people to help provide. There may also become a lot of single parent homes or maybe kids without parents too. Our social lives would also be affected since it could be a friend or family member that died so then a lot of people would be mourning and grieving the loss of their fellow friends and family. Politics would probably change too depending on how many people from each party passed and what people would start believing in depending on the decisions being made for this sickness. Religion may change too because maybe people who weren't religious before may become religious so that they can pray to not get sick. My town was infected with the plague 10 days ago. The doctors still haven't found a cure yet. All those infected are required to go to the nearest quarantine camp. New York City was the first to get the plague. It spread so quickly that everyone had to evacuate. About one fourth of New York City is quarantined now and about a million are already dead. From there, it spread down the East coast. My family and I have slowly watched it get closer and now it is finally here. We're planning to leave tonight. People would not interact with each other, not go to public stores as often, or even at all, and so much more. Families could separate and there could be tensions in marriages, friendships, relationships with family, and even your relationship with your priest/pope/church person. Because people would not want to infect themselves at a shopping place, stores would loose lots of money, and could go out of business very quickly. Employers and employees could not be paid, and pharmacies, doctors' offices, and other important places could go out of business.

We lost all of those people 4 years ago. Luckly, the doctors have found a way to cure this disease and luckly none of my friends or family were effected. Something that has changed is that they just reopened all of the schools.
