I can compare myself with Zacchaeus based on how he feels, we have similarity on how we feel towards ourself and others. In the video it is stated that he resolve to earn people’s praise through material prosperity but the opposite happened. I also had an experience where I have to give people my things or I have to spend my money on them just for their time. In Zacchaeus’s story Jesus happened that’s why he gave up half of his wealth but in my story real friends happened that’s why I dont have to spend money for anyone’s time anymore

For me, Jesus portrayed the image of a brother. Jesus welcomed Zacchaeus as a family member and accepts him. He is very humble and accepts everyone. He also recognizes those who need Him and help them to in their own issue. 

While watching the video, I realized that we all need God. People are prideful when they forget about Jesus. Napoleonic complex leads us to depreciating our being and not accepting what God has given us. Without Jesus, there will be no guidance and chaos because of the inequality that leads to conflict. We all need salvation since we are all sinners and imperfect. Jesus will complete us and He will show us the right path. 

          One thing I can relate to Zacchaeus is the feeling of being looked down upon. In my family, there seems to be a thing that being older always correlate to being more wise, thus younger people are always being looked down upon during discussions and arguments. A person could live his whole life without gaining any knowledge and still be considered wise by their flawed logic. I would give anything to have an proper discussion without any hindrance from status difference. After some thoughts I guess in that regard I couldn’t really criticize what Zacchaeus did in order to become Jesus follower, because I would’ve done it also for my own personal desires.

From the short movie that I have watched, I can see some similarities between Zacchaeus and myself. Back in the short movie, because of Zacchaeus’ complexity towards on how he wants other to see him, he became a tax collector so that the people of Jericho would not look down on him. Since then he continue to become more attached to material things and he lost sight of himself. There were times in my life that the same things have happened to me, I became blinded by those things that gave me temporary happiness and threw the truly important things to me. And then it struck me the most when Jesus, even though Zacchaeus and the others, including me, have sinned greatly, he wouldn’t look down on us but instead looks up and gives us salvation. 

 

The image of Jesus that comes to my mind is that he is a member of a family, wherein even though his people have greatly sinned and abandoned him, he continue to show his love for the people and a good example would be Zacchaeus. Even though he have greatly caused pain to others by becoming a tax collector, Jesus didn’t look down on him instead he offers him salvation. Just like in a family, even though we had committed mistakes, we try to understand each other by offering them forgiveness and giving them another chance.
