         <description><![CDATA[<div>Upper course - As the river moves through the upper course, it cuts downwards (vertical eroison) this helps create v-shaped valleys, interlocking spurs, rapids, waterfalls and gorges. Velocity increases as more water is added to rivers via tributary rivers. This means that less of the water is in contact with the bed of the river and the mouth so there is less energy used to overcome friction.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Upper Course:<br>- A stream with fast velocity, eroding the ground vertically and forming V-shaped valleys, it can also form waterfalls and gorges.<br><br>Middle Course:<br>- The gradient of the river flattens and the river winds through the earth, forming meanders. When these meanders get eroded through, an oxbow lake can form. The velocity of the river is the fastest on the outer bends of the meander and slowest on the insides of the meander. There is also more lateral erosion instead of vertical erosion.<br><br>Lower Course:<br>- Near the mouth of the river, deltas can form with distributaries and braiding rivers.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Upper course - this is where the river is very fast flowing which is assisted by gravity as it is steep. Heavy rainfall fall onto the landscape and collects into a stream starting the source.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I think the discharge increases as we go down the river as it has had more tributaries connecting to the large channel increases, increasing the amount of water entry. <br><br>Low velocity in upper course because there are lots of rocks causing friction - thus making it difficult for the water to move quickly. In the lower course of the river there is less friction, increasing velocity.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The upper course is has less velocity as it has a steep gradient which means lots of potential energy. In the middle course the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy which causes an increase in velocity. The lower course has very little potential energy and lots of kinetic energy which means it has the highest velocity. <br><br>Discharge, increases as we move into the lower course of the river as there is more water entering into the river through tributaries by the time we reach the mouth of the river, and there is higher velocity.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Discharge increases along the course of the river because more and more tributaries join into the main channel, increasing the amount of discharge in a river.<br><br>As discharge increases, the velocity also increases because there is an increase in energy. With a shallower gradient, there is less gravitational potential energy so there is more kinetic energy and a faster velocity.</div>]]></description>
