For this week it was my turn to lead and choose a song for my group to learn and preform. As one of my chosen genres is reggae I chose 'No Woman No Cry' by Bob Marley. I told everyone the song I wanted to do the week so everyone had plenty of time to learn it. Grace was lead vocals, I was lead guitarist, Paul was on bass, and both Andy and James were on percussion. My aim for this session was to perfect the song with my group and play it to a high standard at the end of the session, which I believe we did. Overall I feel like this performance went really well and everyone performed to a really high standard just like you'd expect from a session musician. Next week my aim was to learn the rhythm guitar for Graces chosen song which is 'Take me down' by The Pretty Reckless. Also I needed to learn the lyrics for Paul's chosen song which is 'Murder city' by Green Day.

During this session we got a lot done. Firstly, we got 2 songs recorded and secondly, we got them recorded to a high standard. To start the session off we decided to practice and run through Graces song 'Take me down'. This went really well and we picked it up really quick. I was playing rhythm guitar and I used a variety of techniques including, par muting and heavy to light strumming. My job was to just hold down the rhythm which I believe I did really well on doing so. This not only showed good musicianship but also shows the fact that I am more than capable of working as a session musician. Overall for that performance I would give my self a 10/10.
After we had completed Graces song it was time to move on to Paul's song which was 'Murder City' by Green Day. I got asked to sing on this song with Grace so I did my homework and learnt the lyrics before the session. This meant I could get straight on with it instead of having to mess around and waste valuable time during the session. It was decided that I would sing the first verse, Grace would sing the second verse and we would both sing the chorus. Overall it went really well and I thought it was really tight. I would give my self a 9/10 for this performance. To improve I would like to work on microphone techniques so I can achieve the best sound possible.

For this session it was my job to play rhythm guitar again on Toms song - Last Nite. I think this went really well as me and Will both had to play different guitar parts at the same time but with a bit of practice at the start of the session it sounded really good. The guitar for this song was a bit tricky to get my head around at first but I managed to do fine once I had taken the time to learn it. This was because it was a quite a difficult strumming pattern and it was also quite fast. There's nothing I could of improved on for this song in my opinion as I felt it was really tight.

This week the group's had changed round so I was now working with different muscicans. For this session it was Wills turn to lead on a song that he had chosen. In this case it was by Steely Dan. For this song I was asked to play rhythm guitar on my acoustic. Unfortunately I didn't get chance to learn this song outside of college so in the morning during the session I quickly learnt it so that we could crack on with the song. It ended up going really well and I believe I held down the rhythm to a high professional standard. To improve I would manage my time outside of college more efficiently so I can fit in time to learn the songs. Overall I would give my self a 9/10. For next week my aim was to learn 'Last Nite' by the The Strokes on guitar

The genres I chose to speak about and demonstrate were Folk, Reggae and Hip Hop. I prepared for my workshop by writing down different techniques for each genre and a bit about them. I feel like my workshop went OK. I demonstrated a range of techniques and spoke about each genre but I feel like I could of done more. This is because I didn't do as much research as I could of done. If I'd taken more time to research each genre at home (mainly Folk and Hip Hop) then I believe I could of delivered a better workshop. But overall I think it well. I would give my self an 8 out of 10.
