Ratliff's book "Every Song Ever" REVIEW

I was not a huge fan of this book. Everything he said was extremely vague all the time. I had to read and reread just to get a gist of what he was trying to say. My favorite aspect of this book is the playlists at the end. They really help, because I don't have to mark the songs while I'm reading, so I can return it at the end of this semester. However, the way I listen to music has changed. Now instead of just enjoying it, I try to analyze why I enjoy it. I am not quite sure how I feel about this, as it is pretty much the opposite of what I've been trying to transition myself into. I guess it's not a bad thing though, as it just gives me one more thought process to deal with.

All in all we are not required to like a textbook, but to learn from it, and I have. Ratliff's "Every Song Ever" did it's job the way it was supposed to. It required us to think. We really had to immerse ourselves in each chapter. This was not the blow off class elective we were expecting. Ya'll keep up the good work.
