Stone Tomb is a huge mess of stones. These stones formed a lot of caves in which there were found messages that were written as if people knew what would happen to them. There are reasons to believe that on the Stone Tomb there are fragments of the epic about Gilgamesh - the first written monument in history - the legend which is partly written in the Bible.

Built in 1941, about eight kilometers from the town of Vinnitsa (three and a half hours southwest of Kiev), the site today is overgrown; frequented by history buffs and illegal diggers. The bunker, called the Wehrwolf in reference to "wolf", the translation of Hitler's first name, was built by Soviet prisoners of war, most of whom were shot dead and buried in a mass grave after construction was finished. There is an elaborate glided monument to the estimated 14000 victims in the nearby village of Stryzhavka. During the German army's retreat in 1944, Hitler ordered to destroy his lair with explosives. The Wehrwolf's underground passages were then rendered classified and no historical digs have been allowed since

By Nastia Stasenko

Medieval castles, which have survived on Ukraine’s territory and serve as a vivid illustration of its turbulent history, are reckoned among the most attractive sights in the country. Age-old fortification complexes, which are mostly concentrated in the western region, attract not only with their monumental architecture, interesting history and fascinating energy properties, but also with a kaleidoscope of captivating legends.
Uzhgorod castle is one of the oldest and most majestic fortification facilities in Ukraine. Its history is tightly connected with Hungarian magnates of the Druget family who owned the castle for more than four centuries. The fortress became truly impregnable and acquired its most famous legend during their rule. The story goes that once upon a time, a Polish voivode decided to conquer the Uzhgorod castle. He made an incognito visit to the city and got to know Count Druget’s daughter, who was renowned for her extraordinary beauty. She has lost her mind because of her love to the stranger and told him all the castle’s secrets. When the father found out about daughter’s betrayal, he ordered to immure her alive in a fortress wall and to execute the voivode. According to the legend, girl’s sole wanders about citadel’s corridors seeking salvation ever since.

By Nastia Stasenko

Palanok of Mukachevo has prepared two legends for its guests. One of them is connected with the 85-meter-deep well, which can be seen in the courtyard of the medieval castle even now. It is said that the well was dug for a long time, but water failed to appear in it. Then, devil came to castle's owner – Podillia Prince Fedir Koriatovych – and offered a deal: water in the well in exchange for a sack of gold. Having no choice the prince agreed. He was in financial straits, though, and decided to use cunning: he gave the smallest sack with two coins to the devil. Vexed devil grabbed money and jumped into the well. It is said that his offended howl can be still heard from there.

Another Palanok Castle’s popular legend is tightly connected with the name of the Countess Ilona Zrini, who was in charge of Mukachevo castle’s defense during the siege by Austrian troops. Once, during another attack by the enemy on the western slope, the countess, who in addition to her extraordinary courage was famous for a rare beauty, came out on the bastion of the upper fortress surrounded by her loyal soldiers. The Austrian general, who was preparing his troops to another siege, saw the charming Zrini. Being stunned, he ordered to stop the attack, saying that he won’t fight against such a beauty.

By Denys Marchenko

One man had a daughter who was a witch. When the feast of Yuri came, she took a smear of such an ointment that nobody could see her, sat down on the mare and went to the witches' entertainments. Together with other witches, she collected dew and milk from every beast. And one neighbor had a cow that gave a lot of milk. So the witch gave the night to the neighboring cow to take milk. Once, the neighbor did not sleep all night. On the gate of the stables, he drew a harrow, which he was doing almost year round, which was supposed to help catch a thief. So the witch, having come to the stables, got into a trap and therefore turned over to the handsome horse. The man rescued the horse from the harrow, called the blacksmith and asked to hoist it. And then harnessed that horse in a cart, loaded with bags of corn and drove up to the mill. Several times the horse stopped tired, only the man beat it mercilessly, it fell under the whip. It was really a difficult road.

To call this flower Chervona Ruta (Red Rue) is wrong because this perennial plant has yellow flowers. The girls who will find the flower will be happy in love.

Only the leaves or the whole terrestrial part of the plant are harvested. Ruta is a poisonous plant, and during the gathering and other manipulations with the plant it causes unpleasant bumps on the skin.

After addressing the "Atlas of medicinal plants" (1981) and the book "On the pages of the Red Book of Plants", it was possible to find this mysterious "red line". It is distributed in Ukraine in two forms: the rhododendron yellow (Azalia Pontic) and - the rhododendron of the eastern Carpathian, the local "Red Rue".

The Kupala night was considered an extremely favorable time for the search and collection of magic potions, that is, grasses that were endowed with magical properties.

Thank you for your attention.

For the first time getting here, struck by the beauty of the terrain, a man is perplexed as to how all these stone statues have come down, reminiscent of those who have imagination built in a bizzare battle order by an enemy army. Scientists claim that these are just figures of weathering for millenia, oowerful mountain winds, liklmes alive and begins to move . Someone blames the game of light and shadow in this, some endemic plants are listed in the Red Book and emit ether substances that can cause people to slight haziness of mind and hallucinations.
