         <description><![CDATA[<div>Skeletal muscle (striated muscles)<br><br>Definition - a muscle which is connected to the skeleton to form part of the mechanical system which moves the limbs and other parts of the body.<br><br>Location - Skeletal muscles are located throughout the body at the openings of internal tracts to control the movement of various substances. These muscles allow functions, such as swallowing, urination, and defecation, to be under voluntary control.</div><div> <br><br>Function - The skeletal muscles are responsible for body movements such as typing, breathing, extending the arm, writing, etc. The muscles contract which pulls the tendons on the bones and causes movement. The body posture is maintained by the skeletal muscles.<br><br>Facts -  They also have bands or striation along the length.
