The Mid-Atlantic, or Middle Colonies were very different from the New England or Southern regions of colonies.

One of the biggest differences, was the climate and geography of the region. The soil was perfect for growing crops that supplied much of the thirteen colonies with food. This earned this region the nickname "The Breadbasket Colonies."

Another difference was the diversity of what could be accomplished by those that lived here. From agricultural jobs to working in trades, this region was advanced in job variety.

Lastly, being directly in the middle of the two other regions, trading was increased and offered a great opportunity to access raw materials and finished goods alike.

Due to so many opportunities, this region attracted a great deal of immigration, allowing for larger communities being built, and also increasing economic activity.
