These events are open to Year 10 & 11 students.

We encourage Year 11 students to visit at least two colleges in advance of applications being made.  Application deadlines vary, but many are by end of December this year, so please do your best to make time to attend open events at any college you are considering.

We met with residents and talked to them about the "Sussex Icons" art competition that all Year11 art and photography students can take part in. Homes First will display all produced artwork at an exhibition in Marine Workshops, Newhaven in January with a prize giving ceremony on 8^th January, judged by the tenants. 

As people are living longer, they are fitter and working longer, and many of the Retirement Housing tenants don’t feel like “old people” and don’t want to live in the stereotypical rest/care home environment.  Chailey students' artwork and photography is going to be permanently displayed in 21 retirement homes across Sussex after the "Sussex Icons" competition.

Monday 6th October​: Deadline for Year 11 students to complete "Sussex Icons" piece ​

Tuesday 6th – Thursday 8th January Exhibition of Sussex Icons art and photography from Chailey students in Marine Workshops, Newhaven. Friends and family are very welcome to visit and vote for their favourite artwork. ​Thursday 8^th January: Students will visit the gallery for the prize giving ceremony in Marine Workshops, Newhaven. Parents/ friends/ family are also welcome at this event.

Some lovely riding from all but unfortunately no placings for the Team. All members supported each other so nicely through the morning and a pleasure to be a part of it.

In the afternoon in the 80 to 90cm class Emma riding Ginger and Millie competed as individuals for the school, Emma and Ginger rode a very competitive round coming 10th in an extremely large competitive class. Millie and Badger pulled out all the stops to come 2nd, only 0.25 of a second off of 1st.

This wonderful feedback reflects the Chailey School values of Kindness, Resilience, Responsibility, Independence and Creativity, and we would like to congratulate our students for representing the school with such maturity and enthusiasm.

Students should also only travel on the bus service they are allocated to.
