Today is the first day of my “confrontation” with the students, since i already got my relief classes. So the fear is unexplainable. It sounds funny to be afraid of students who are so much younger to me but it is the fact that i need to face. When i enter the class, it seems everything is different in my time. I still remember that i really take a good care of my relationship with teachers with full of respect. 

I have a few relief today. I get to experience the lowest and highest class of form 5 in second day of being here. For Class B, the relief period was going very well. They decided to do their homework even when break time. They also eat at proper sit and following the SOP. They started to look bored and talking to each other. I moved around and have a small talk with all of them so the class will be under control. 

For lowest class, the class is kind of noisy and students tend to move around. I told them to stop moving and focus on the work and it works at the end.

My first official teaching experience was okay and frankly it was one of the best experiences of my life. I have always loved children, especially the one who behave well, so i kind of excited about my position. 

Of course it was incredibly nervous on my first day of teaching. Nonetheless, my first day in classroom went better than i expected. I told them a few rules that they need and should follow and remember for the rest of the class. I might look a bit strict and not friendly at all for the first class and they do  look scared of me. Oddly.

But things went well. We do the ice breaking by drawing themselves, favourite food, animal, date of birth and so on. They really enjoyed drawing things and i could say that they love arts too by looking at their drawings.

Among the activity that i would do was “shape me” which requires students to draw what they heard. I will make sure all students will be taking part in this activity. I prepare the paper  and the picture reference. I asked the president of class to voice out the things he saw on the picture and the rest of students need to draw what he listen to. Of course, some students were hesitated but normally would reward those who got the right answer or the closest answer with cute pens and RM5. They will be 6 winners of pen and a winner for RM5. 

The funny thing was sometimes when the students knew that i will get a relief class, they will ask me to play again.

I am not afraid of telling my students that there could be some occasions where I don't know. Indeed there is always an unknown to be known, and the more we know the more ignorant we are, which they generally accept. 

For the first time, i wouldn't be more friendly to then yet i tried to observe what kind of person they are. They look stiff and quite at first. Since the  class look bored, I change personality to be a bit friendly to them. They started talking to me and asking personal questions which i was okay with it since it was a process of getting to know each other.

I tried to memorize their name so that they will be more appreciated. I do not do this often but during ROS, i keep calling their names which it is easy to remember. He got the audacity to tell me that he felt appreciated when teachers remember their name. 

At the end of the day, we have a retirement day which this is the first time to be invited as a teacher and sitting with other teachers where this feels wholesome. 

I also maintaining their discipline. Large groups may become restless to always keep on eye to every single of them. I keep them to be quite all the time so that they cant cheat on exam. 

Not every single of student can move around the class except those who need to go to toilet. There also a few students who struggle to understand the question given and tend to ask me the meaning. I help them only when they really need it.

Today i need to monitor form 2, which is 2A and 2G. which is upper class.  The class is quite big, and students are around 35-40 each class. This is not the first time yet i feel so nervous since i teach this class. The examination is usually conducted in the main hall of the school but there conducted in classes. The moment I enter the class, everyone is so innocent and well mannered, discipline, and silent. I enjoyed monitor this class since i don't have to shout out loud just to ask them to be quite. They finished 30 minutes after which this is they have a lot of free time. So the students ask me to sleep. I asked them to sleep ONLY after they checked the paper twice.
