Topic: Land Pollution
I've always been raised to take care of any trash and recycle whenever I can get the chance. I did girl scouts for a while when I was little and a huge topic that was mentioned a lot was land pollution and how harmful it is to the planet. For those that could be interested in the topic they could be just as passionate about land pollution or they may want to be informed about why land pollution is such a issue in today's present time. It's been going on for years and we are creating some solutions for figuring out how to stop land pollution but in everyday life some might not think about it as much and I would like for the research paper to bring attention to that. Research question: What benefits does Idaho think they will get if they release harmful chemicals near the Shoshone tribe's tribal land?

Being a girl, walking around on campus at night can be scary sometimes, so with this project I hope to get in contact with resources that can alleviate any stress and also promote public safety in general for those who are on campus.

Along with the fact that if this goes through, I have elderly grandparents that are more at risk for a more severe Covid-19 reaction. People that might be interested in this topic would be legislation. And the same goes for people or people worried about loved one getting in contact with the Covid-19 virus and having serious complications.

Topic: Mask Wearing at BSU I am care about this topic because coronavirus is an important topic to me. I have family that have a weaker immune system and I care about their safety. I notice on campus that a lot of people don't wear masks when they usually should be. My goal with this paper would be to ask around campus and see who does and doesn't wear masks when they should be. As well as me being interested in this topic I think other people who care about feeling safe covid wise on campus would be curious to see how many people actually wear masks when they're supposed to. Here's my research question: What percentage of the time do students on campus wear their mask in places where they’re required to?

Topic:

My topic is how Ada County and Boise State exist in a Sea of red and how divided the political climate is here at Boise State. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s no secret that this last presidential debate has been extremely heated with both democrats and republicans aiming for each other's throats. While I grew up in democratic majority, I understand a lot of the ideals carried by my fellow republican friends and I want to dive deeper into the manifestation of their beliefs and what events led to the incredibly divided nation we live in today. I am passionate about this because i truly believe that if we are to progress in America we need to see real justice brought to a lot of the issues in society. A lot of this will directly affect that world I'm thrown out into after college and I want to ensure this world is a healthier place than the one we live in now. My peers would be greatly invested in this topic because the same issues presented in the political war today will affect them.

I saw someone picked the mask policy on BSU but I am not going to be specific to BSU, I want to ask people downtown and other places. I chose this topic because it is very relevant and is important to push the idea of wearing a mask even if you don't think you need to. Many of my friends have contracted COVID-19 and I have seen what it is like first hand having the sickness.

This brings up a lot of points like how many people are going to fight this if if it gets passed? who will fight private businesses? How will the number of Covid cases be impacted. I think with this topic I can interview more than just classmates, I can talk to family, friends, coworkers, and even people that come into my work.

Topic
Social isolation for children due to Covid-19 regulations.

This topic interests me because I believe it is imperative that children are able to socially interact in a face-to-face environment. I found an article stating that a Boise mother was interviewed because her 6-year old son had tried to jump out of a moving vehicle due to the social isolation he has experienced from Covid-19. The scary thing is that this is not an isolated incident. Schools are re-opening but I don't believe this virus is going anywhere anytime soon, so hopefully we can learn from our past mistakes and not make the call to shut schools down again.
Mothers and fathers alike would be interested in this topic, as well as anyone with an opinion on Covid-19 regulations. As far as change goes, I'm not entirely sure we, as citizens, will have the option to vote on this or not, but that is always the hope.

Some topics I may address:
- “How does the university going fully renewable affect climate change as a whole?”

- “Is there any support from outside sources on this community topic? Or is it difficult for others to get behind it?”

Some of the topics are clear, but we have yet to figure out a definite path of research yet. Hopefully our group will figure this out soon.

Some of the better research questions stated within our group mentioned personal experience as one of their motivating factors towards research. Having this connection will certainly start those researching in the right direction and it also provides credibility towards said topic as well.

Topic: Energy usage at BSU

In Boise, I know that a lot of the city’s energy/power is generated from renewable energy sources such as hydroelectric and solar outlets. Obviously this is a good thing because using more resources such as these will decrease the need for coal or oil which are very harmful to the environment.

This is an important topic to address in our community because although we may not see our world become uninhabitable, the generations of people to come certainly will and it is our responsibility to leave our respective communities the way we found them. Through taking my UF class (Foundations of climate change) last semester, I learned a lot about climate change and it definitely made me more conscious of what I am doing in terms of my carbon footprint. I am not one who is involved in movements or anything surrounding this topic; however, making more people aware about what is going on in our environment, specifically at BSU or the city of Boise, is of a very high importance.

Topic: The Last of Us part 2 is a follow up to the game The Last of Us released seven years ago. It was highly acclaimed by critics as a must have gaining 100/100, 10/10, 9.5/10 all over the internet. As for the gamers and community including myself, the game is below average or slightly just above. Currently it has a 3.5/10 on IGN. The divide between fanbase and critics is more massive than such controversial topics as The Last Jedi and Captain Marvel. My goal in the letter to IGN is to figure out why such a game is highly appreciated by critics, winning most of its nominations in the Game Awards including Game of the Year 2020 and Best Narrative. And yet was received so negatively by the rest of the world.

Topic: Anti-Mask Rallies

I chose this topic because I don’t want others to suffer from COVID. People should not be protesting against health regulations, they should be helping others by wearing their mask. The rally in front of the Idaho state capitol building was in protest against wearing masks because it is a restriction of their freedoms. I chose against this topic because of the expert health information on how masks help slow the spread of the disease. I think a lot of people would be interested in enacting the change I want to accomplish. Most people are smart enough to protect themselves and others. Even if it is as hard as wearing a mask.
