With the appeal logos, there are many ways that Swift is direct with what is happening in the lyrics. "We hadn't seen each other in a month, " Swift is telling us that she and Jake have clearly not seen each other in a month. The next one is "and you would hide away and find your peace of mind". This sentence from the song is telling us that Swift is talking about how Jake would leave her for a while and be by himself to mind his peace of mind. The final example of logos would be "We called it off again last night." In this part of the song Swift tells us that she and Jake called the relationship off again, as in it has happened multiple times.

"We are never ever getting back together" by Taylor Swift, Album Red. The SOAPSTone for this song is very similar when it comes to the lyrics and music video. The speaker for the lyrics for “We are never ever getting back together” is Taylor Swift herself. Swift’s audience is Jake Gyllenhaal, whom she dated in late 2010 and early 2011. She told MPRnews that “He made me feel like I wasn’t as good or as relevant as these hipster bands he listened to. So, I made a song that I knew would absolutely drive him crazy.” Swift wanted this song to be aimed at him so he would get the message she was sending. The subject of this song is that Taylor is never going to get back together with her ex–boyfriend. The tone of the lyrics I would say is light-hearted. The occasion for both the lyrics and music video is so that Taylor wrote it so she would finally stop caring about how her ex thought about her. For the music video, the speaker again is Taylor Swift. The audience for the music video is Swift’s ex-boyfriend and anybody who would ask if she and her ex-boyfriend will ever get back together. The purpose of the music video is to prove to her ex-boyfriend that her music would be so much better and more popular than the music he listens to. The subject of the music video is the same as the lyrics, which is, Swift is saying she is never getting back together with her ex. The tone of the video is different than the lyrics, it is funny and snotty in my opinion.

With the appeal of pathos, there are many ways that Swift is using emotions in the lyrics. "Saying, 'This is it, I've had enough', cause like". This line in the lyrics has Swift saying that she has had enough of Jake and everything he has put her through. When Swift says "Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change" I feel it is an emotional line for anyone that has been through what she has in that type of relationship. Lastly, the line "We are never ever getting back together" is a great example of pathos because Taylor is stating with emotion that she and Jake are never getting back together and she needs him to understand that.

Taylor Swift is the speaker of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”. This song was meant for Jake and anybody who would ask if she and Jake would ever get back together. You can tell by all the logos and pathos examples that Swift was trying to prove to her ex-boyfriend that her music would be so much better and more popular than the music he listened to. Swift made her point with the repetitive lyrics and catchy tune that she and Jake Gyllenhaal would never EVER get back together. The lyrics and video were very effective in telling us why they would never get back together with each other.
