What is a theme?
A theme is the main idea of the story, the lesson the author is trying to teach us.
Let's say, for example, "Malala". Malala kept on mentioning how much she desires to go back to school, raising awareness about how important it is for girls to do to school with his dad, being interviewed, getting shot, etc. It is all around one main idea, so this information in this story apparently made it kind of clear that the main theme would probably be “equality “ or something like that.
