Riding their older brother/sisters bikes was most likely a way of "stealing" which was not allowed in their community
-The december ceremonies meant and mean so much to everyone because that's the way everyone is honoured as they get older and how they receive their jobs/assignments

Also the pills prevent people from thinking otherwise or two times of the community
- As what happened to Jonas was he began to have the dreams about Fiona and he also began to have thoughts about sameness
-It is unknown as to why males begin to have the dreams earlier but because of that the need to take the pills before the females

Themes In The Giver

Out of the 4 themes in this unit I thought that the most important theme was either self-discovery or blind obedience. An example for self discovery from the text would be how Jonas made the decision to go against the community and choose to stop taking the pills for the stirrings. The pills for the stirrings were meant to stop the people from seeing their way and make sure they had no doubts about the society they lived in. I believe because Jonas stopped taking them that lead him to the other self discovery that he needed to go find elsewhere instead of living the way he was.

An example for blind obedience would be how he began to question the ways of the society he lived in and started to doubt the ways he had been living his life for the past 12/13 years. Something that he doubted was the sameness and how they were being treated, for example how they were being released.

In conclusion I found that the two most important themes that were displayed in this novel was self-discovery and blind obedience because they got my attention the most and I think that without those the story wouldn't be able to happen
