It is a very visual way to show the order that phonics skills are understood and should be taught, along with definitions of the phonics skill and examples of words for each section. It starts with just learning to speak with letter sounds and then short vowel sounds, and works it way up through the phonics skills until it gets to Greek and Latin Roots.

Link: https://the-six-shifts.kit.com/15800522d6 (you have to download it)

Hannah

This kit is useful as it teaches important terminology that teachers and students should know about morphology. I can definitely see the recommended teaching sequence provided to be useful in the future as it guides the teacher in finding the best way to teach their students. The resource has fun games and activities that teachers can use to help their students stay engaged in the lesson. It also includes lessons and quite literally everything that a teacher would need to teach an engaging morphology lesson.

As a teacher candidate, I find the Word Connections: A Multisyllabic Word Reading Program to be a great resource for supporting students who struggle with decoding multisyllabic words. Developed by Dr. Jessica Toste, the program provides a structured approach with 40 lessons that incorporate engaging activities like Speedy Read and Word Play to help students with reading complex words. The program's emphasis on hands-on practice rather than rule-based instruction aligns with the diverse needs of students in upper elementary grades. The evidence of its effectiveness, backed by research, demonstrates clear benefits in word reading, decoding, and comprehension. The open-access materials, including the Teacher Manual and Student Materials, make it an accessible and valuable tool for any educator.
