Fracking doesn’t just have bad effects, but good ones too. Fracking gives 1.2 million people jobs in the USA. 60% of the oil we get is from fracking. Fracking improves the economy of the areas rich with the oil like Texas. This may be surprising but, fracking reduces greenhouse gasses by 50% because it reduces Coal Power because coal power causes twice as much pollution as fracking. Fracking lowers imports; which lowers our dependence on foreign oil; which America is currently trying to work on improving. Fracking lowers energy prices like, it lowers our electricity bill. Lowers oil prices because more competition in prices so, more people will buy their products. A boost for US manufacturing like the increase in oil production in the USA. Right now only 37% of Americans are with fracking.

Fracking uses 90% water, 9.5% sand, and 0.5% dangerous chemicals. You know only 30 to 50% of the water from fracking is recovered and the water near the fracking sites have methane gas concentrations 17 times higher than drinking water wells with no nearby fracking sites. The flow back liquid contains water and a number of contaminants, including radioactive material, heavy metals, hydrocarbons and other toxins. Many of the fracking fluid chemicals are known to be toxic to humans and wildlife and several are known to cause cancer. So, I think should put this down. Fracking doesn’t just cause water pollution, but fracking also causes air pollution because it creates greenhouse gasses. Fracking can harm nearby soil and vegetation and after fracking occurred the land may not be suitable anymore. Fracking can cause Earthquakes due to the high pressure like, there was an Earthquake in Oklahoma that had a magnitude of 5.8; which is very strong, and it was caused by fracking and because of the high pressure it can also create seismic activity. Fracking also overuses the water supply like, fracking uses 70 to 140 billion gallons of water a year in the USA. Fracking decreases the house values by 50% of how much it’s worth to nearby house within 1 mile of the fracking facility and about 15.3 million Americans have lived within 1 mile of a fracking facility. Fracking can create methane emissions; which is a greenhouse gas.

A barrel of oil has been fracked cost $120, compared to the average cost of other drilling methods cost $57 per barrel. With Donald Trump as the president of the USA and Rick Perry as the Secretary of Energy fracking will increase and continue while in their terms. Fracking is banned only in four countries right now, France, Bulgaria, Germany, and Scotland. But right now the USA only has local bands right now like in, Washington County, Pennsylvania has a local ban that bans fracking there. Fracking started in the late 1940’s. In the US, fracking mainly takes place in Texas, North Dakota, Louisiana, and the Marcellus Shale region in the East. Before they start fracking they have to get a protective mat covering two-thirds of the pad drill vertically up to 10,000 feet underground and this process would take 1 week to 10 days, then now they drill horizontally for 4,000 to 10,000 feet, then they cover the tube with steel casing which helps protect the groundwater and maintain integrity of the well, then they combine often dangerous chemicals with large amounts of water and sand at high rates of pressure into rock formations to fracture surrounding material for the purpose of extracting oil and gas and. There are about 35,000 wells that do fracking in the US. When the fracking well is used in the fracking well, it needs to be in constant operation 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for about 21 to 28 days since that’s how long the process will take.
