I am Ainhoa Muguruza and I’m 18 years old. I actually live in Arrasate but I’m from Donostia. I studied in Santo Tomas Lizeoa school, which is located in Berio, and it is a concerted school. I studied in model “D”, and I think that it is because my parents wanted me to speak good Basque, and I think that it is a really good idea. I think that studying in this model helped me in my Basque level, so I think that studying in one model or in the other has a direct effect in your language level and fluency when speaking it.

My mother language is mostly Basque, but I consider that it is Spanish too, because I always speak Basque with my father and sister, whereas I always speak Spanish with my mother. I have always studied in Basque, but I usually speak Spanish with my friends since I was a child. I also speak English since I was little, we spoke it a lot at school and I also used to go to an English academy. I started also to study French, but I thought that it was really difficult, and I left it for another moment in life, but I would like to study French.

When I was in pre-school education I always had the same teacher, but when I in primary school, I had different teachers. In some subjects I had the same teachers, but in another ones, it was a different one. It was different teacher in English classes, in art or music classes, in Spanish classes and in physical exercise. I sometimes liked to change the teacher because it was a different way of learning, I mean, each teacher has different teaching method, so if teacher changes, the way of teaching also changes. I think it is a good idea for learning things in different ways.

Every time people ask me about my favourite teacher, I always think about a name, Gotzone. She was my tutor and my natural sciences and mathematics teacher in primary school. Her classes were always different to the rest of classes. To study maths for example, we always made like a kind of competition, and if you achieved the best score, your price was a candy, in that way you always wanted to do the exercises right, and you enjoyed doing maths. When studying natural sciences, we always went to the grass we had near our lass and we learnt things while seeing it, I mean, we sometimes plant seeds in the garden and in that way, we learnt how a flower or a lettuce or whatever it was growing.

I also had teacher I didn’t like in primary school, but every time they ask me about my primary school experience I remember Gotzone, and I say that I had a really good experience and I think that it has been the best period in my school time. I think that as you are teacher you must find the best way to teach every subject to your students, considering their age and their interest.
