Today we had Jake Shatsky come in and teach us a master class. I think that after class today I realized that dance is not just about moving to music, it is about bringing your personal life into a non verbal way of communication. It is about expressing who you are without you even having to speak about it. I think that as a level we have always been very close but, I think that after today we all really realized that everyone has their own problems going on even if they don't show it. I think that Jake found a healthy way to get us to connect to his choreography today. From watching the video I think that I need to work more on making my movement bigger and really using the space around me instead of just staying in one area.

Today I helped with the FPAC auditions. I felt as though this padlet entry was necessary because of what I learned from today. I learned that it is okay to make mistakes even in an audition because the people auditioning you are not looking for perfection from you. I had to help a young girl in the small dance room after she performed her solo to stop crying because she fell out of a pirouette. After four years in the FPAC program I realized that when you make a mistake it is a good thing because you can move on from it and grow from it and that is what I shared with the young girl. We taught the incoming freshman this combination today and I thought that it was crazy to look at how far our level has come because we all were at the same place that they are now four years ago. I learned a lot from today and found it beneficial to me as well and i wasn't even the person auditioning.

Although there is no video from today because it was share day I felt that it was necessary to post this picture and reflect upon the past four years. Being that it was my last share day, I wanted to reflect on all that I learned within the process and in the show itself. While working on our piece "Mercy" I was originally "injured" because I had stitches in my right arm. I had to push through that and continue to work with what I could because the show must go on and you must be one hundred percent committed. I learned that it is hard to have an injury but, you can easily find ways to still dance and do what you love. I think that I really worked hard in learning this piece and that it showed on stage. Today for our last share day I wanted to share this, I learned that time flies by faster than you think and that you get results when you put in the work. Our level really worked hard to make this piece polished and I felt like everything that we could have done within the rehearsal process we did as a group. I also learned that everyone works very hard in all of the majors in FPAC and are all very dedicated to what they are doing and that honestly inspired me the most. The fact that every dancer, singer, actress, E.T. person, and teacher gave their one hundred percent to our share day show. I am certainly going to miss FPAC and just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to have such an amazing second family, home, safe space to practice my craft, and experience. I learned not only how to use my epaulment in Ballet throughout these past four years but what it means to really work as a level and how to put on a show.

Today in class we had a guest teacher come in! She required us to come in with all black clothing and character heels. I think that this time our class was very well prepared for her class (attire wise). From watching today's video I see that I need to work on having stronger arms, pushing down in my shoulders throughout the combination, and watching the placement of my ribs. I have done well in improving my ribs in Ballet, now I need to become more aware of them being open in all of the other styles of dance.

Today in Jazz we watched this video! It was very different choreography and shows that not all jazz pieces have to be done in unison or done with a sassy style. Most modern day jazz pieces are sassy where this one is more comical in my opinion. This piece also used their clothing to help to create a theme instead of a story behind the movement. I found the choreography quite interesting and uplifting as an audience member

Today I am reflecting upon a video that Ms. McAllen showed us in Voice class! It is a piece called gravity performed on so you think you can dance. I think that this video shows the level of commitment professional dancers have to their pieces. My favorite part is when the guy has her leg and puts his face to her leg to show how much she needed the drugs and was being controlled by the drugs. I think that the simplest choreography is sometimes the hardest to get across to the audience.
