         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Distinguishing the difference between Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Counsellors.<br>Psychiatrists are medical doctors who have completed at least 11 years of training and study.  They use the medical model to understand how the brain works when diagnosing and treating mental health, which is thought to have a physical cause.  Symptoms are connected and diagnosed as a syndrome.  Medication is used as a treatment and sometimes brain stimulation therapies for complex mental health diagnosis.  <br><br>Psychologists study and train for 6 years in behaviour, thoughts feeling and motivation of people.  They use talking therapies with individuals but are unable to diagnose and prescribe medication as psychiatrists do.  They tend to treat those with mild to moderate mental health.<br><br>Counsellors can provide talking therapies to individuals, groups, couples and families.  The title is not legally protected, as is a psychiatrist and specialist psychologist.</strong></div>]]></description>
