Santiago believes quite strongly in fate and destiny, in a way the concept of one’s personal legend is quite tied to believing in fate in destiny, it very much seems that Santiago believes that his personal legend is also his fate and destiny, and his belief in that also shows through how much he believes in omens. . I don't personally believe in fate or destiny, but i think that fate and destiny are very strongly tied to belief in how they work, as well as how that works in religion. When you believe something, that doesn't always mean you can do it, but the act of belief is so strong that it can get you much closer and help you realize that. Belief in things such as fate, destiny and such can also be very helpful to help people get through life and make sense of our world.

It was his destiny to be robbed and to work for that crystal merchant to progress during his personal legend unknowingly. I believe that me taking classes like woodworking or working with my dad with construction is also my fate for my own personal legend to take over my dads business and it's fate that these events happen to me to strive towards my personal legend.

One theme that shows up a lot in this book is personal legends. I think that Santiago doesn't understand what his personal legend is yet, and so discovering it is motivating all his actions. I think the omens are leading him to finding the treasure at the Pyramids, and that might be his personal legend. I think personal legends connect to real life because many people have a desire for something that is really important to them in their lives, whether that be a job or a trip or a relationship that shapes all their choices, even when you might not realize it yet. Something that motivates me like that is travelling and see a lot of places.

I feel like a really important theme in the book would be dreams. Santiago a big dream to go to Egypt and he even gave up what he loved most, his sheep just to try to make his dream come true. He went to a whole different place where he didn't know the language or how life is over there. He got a job to try to raise money so he could to to Egypt. He listened to the merchant who also had a dream to go to Mecca but he said that it was just a dream and would not do anything to try and reach for it. That a dream was just a dream. On the other hand Santiago is doing whatever he can to go to Egypt to find his treasure even though it might seem tough. My connection to the theme would probably be that i don't give up until i reach my goals even though the path might be tough i know there will be the reward at the end.

Santiago's Fate / Destiny was him encountering all the people and the diffrent events that happend for his "personal legend" like how he was robbed, worked at the crystal merchant. My connection to this theme would be like how instead of tech class I got video editing class, somthing I didn't know existed untill now, and I am really into video production / picture taking. Which may become what I do later in life, simmilar to my own "persnal legend."

Santiago talks a lot about destiny. He believes his destiny is to discover the treasure and to understand the universal language, as well as continuing to learn about the world from his personal experiences. He says that he learns how the whole world works from controlled groups of people, like his sheep and the caravan he is traveling with. I believe in destiny, but not as in the one thing that someone is meant to do or one singular goal to achieve. I believe that destiny is the path to your own success that you have to take, and to do whatever you believe will extend your understanding of your life's purpose.

Santiago's decisions and actions are usually determine by those he considers omens, like meeting the Englishman and the butterfly. Santiago would then take these omens as some sort of sign or calling, leading him and guiding him through his journey. An omen has always something I considered vague in meaning and in practice, but it is also something I am starting to understand through my daily life, like how I observe the moods of others to understand a situation, or consider superstitions I have heard and the reason for it.

This leads Santiago and the Englishman to seek out Egypt to find there personal legend. I believe your personal legend is what your destined to get/see and i also believe it to be the biggest moment of your life.

When Santiago is trying to figure out his personal legend, or he is unsure, Urim and Thummim are there to remind him of the old king. I think in order for people to understand there personal legend, they need external opinion to help them decide, or point them in the right direction, like the king for Santiago. I think that this can be applied to real life, such that when people are trying to follow a dream, yet they feel unsure, they should have someone or something to help them realize.

Also everyone has their own personal legend for example The Englishman his personal legend is finding a alchemist to help him understand the emerald tablet. i think your personal legend has connection to your destiny at the end its wear your end up or it might be what you want to be later in life.

The theme I choose was personal legend. I choose this because it frequently pops in the book as something the boy is searching for and hopes to discover. In the book one of the main things is that everyone has a personal legend that they are working towards and becomes a point of shared respect for one another on the same journey as you even if they have different ways of achieving it. For example, on page 85 the boy says everyone has his or her ways of learning things, His way isn’t the same as mine, Nor mine as his. But we’re both in this for the search of our personal legends, And I respect him for that. I choose this because I personally resonated with having a goal set for yourself in mind that you hope to achieve. While you simultaneously learn and discover new things along the way.

The Englishmen said, "everything in life is an omen." The Englishmen talks about how there is a universal language, and it's understood by everyone, "but already forgotten." He is in search of this universal language. The Englishmen states that it is the whole reason that he's there. What I think he is trying to describe, is how body language, eye contact, and understanding other people vibe can be just as powerful as verbal communication, and that is what everybody can interpret.

Santiago's personal legend would most likley be finding the tresure in the egyptian pyramids. But from the book it shows that he doesn't compleatly know what his own personal legend might really be. This could be applied to teal life because when people try to make up thier own legend or try to follow somthing they think they have, it ends up not ending well. Though we haven't read far enough to know if the book supports this or not.

I feel like this is a very important theme in the book because dreams is what keeping his hopes alive, even if it will do him harm. When Santiago got robbed, his whole way of thinking developed as he stayed around that market. A dream is all it took for him to have that ambition to chase and learn his personal legend. He had one goal and his dreams is what he clings onto. One connection that i have with this is that i always have this way of thinking that is to chase something that i think will have a positive impact on my life in any sort of way.

Santiago's still have to deal with fears, doubts and social expectations that is actively trying to pursue his personal legend. The omens are helping him to find the treasure at the Pyramids, and that is his personal legend. I think personal legends connect to the real life because everyone in this world have their own personal legends and their deepest desire but they might not realize it yet.

A theme that shows up many times is Fate / Destiny. I think this because of the reaccuring dreams of Santiago finding the treasure of Egypt, meeting the jewlery maker that gave him the opportunity to make money, meeting the English man, getting stolen from, etc. Through all of these happenings Santiago has kept pursuing in his goal of finding the treasure no matter what "problem" or issue he has when trying to do it. Further showing his destiny to find the treasure no matter what happens. My connection to this theme is through my family teaching me how to play basketball at a young age and pushing me to keep pursuing in basketball, Although I don't think that is the only liable option for my future. I feel like it will give me many opportunities to achieve a job or pursue something similar physically related or related to sports.

A theme that shows up consistently in this book is omens. In the beginning when Santiago meets the king he speaks of omens and how he must follow the omens, then all throughout his journey there are many omens that come to him like recurring dreams, encounters with people that end up helping him, and visions of the future. These omens guide Santiago in the right direction and he starts to find that whenever he follows them good things come in helping him with his personal legend. I think this connects to me because its almost like the phrase "follow your gut" and I feel like a lot of times that I have a gut feeling I choose not to follow it and would rather follow logic, but a lot of times that feeling turns out to be right so I think I need to trust it more.

One theme that shows up in the book is Personal legend. This theme appears on page 13 when Santiago goes to the palm reader to interpret his dreams. He has a dream about finding treasure near Egyptian pyramids which he doesn't understand. When he talks with Melchizedek and the gypsy he learns that dreams are a way to communicate a personal Legend. My connection to this is that go with that flow and what is meant to happen to you will happen. It inspires me to trust journeys and take risk because you never know the goodness that'll come out of it.

This theme is illustrated through Santiago's journey as he seeks to fulfill his dream of finding treasure at the pyramids in Egypt. Throughout the book, Santiago learns that following his dreams require courage , perseverance, and listening to his heart. This theme resonates me with me as i believe in the importance of pursuing ones passions and dreams.
